A Manhattan congressional candidate has released an online porn video starring himself in a bid to highlight his “sex positive” political platform.
Long-odds, third-party hopeful Mike Itkis — who’s expected to lose to Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler in New York’s 12th District — posted the steamy, 13-minute sex tape with adult movie star Nicole Sage.
Politicians usually want to cover up their sex tapes — but Itkis said he put it out to prove he’s truly excited about legalizing sex work.
“If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue,” he told City & State . “And the fact I actually did it was a huge learning experience, and it actually influenced items on my platform.”
He said he posted the video, titled “Bucket List Bonanza,” to a popular porn website as “a conversation piece.”
The footage of him making whoopie with Sage — who bills herself as “a slutty girl from New Mexico” — was his first time having sex on camera, he said.
“I’m very much an introvert,” he said. “I’m kind of a nerd who doesn’t like to be the center of attention if I can avoid it. But I thought the issues I’m trying to address are so important.”
“I wanted to have my issues talked about in some way,” he said.
Itkis’ campaign page states his background as “Not married. No kids. Not celibate. Atheist” and says he is dedicated to making sexual rights explicit by “ending adultery laws” and “decriminalizing and legalizing sex work.”
He also appears to target child support payments, writing that “men should not be required to support biological children without prior agreement.”
The Nadler campaign declined to comment to City & State on the sizzling sex tape. But Itkis’ Republican opponent said he understood the urge to seek attention amid a hot political race.
“You gotta do what you gotta do,” Mike Zumbluskas said.

Mike Itkis wants to decriminalize and legalize sex work, but he doesn’t just want to talk about it, he wants to be about it, you know? And so the third-party candidate running in Manhattan’s 12th District published his own sex tape on Pornhub—a 13-minute video of him having sex with performer Nicole Sage.
“If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue,” the 53-year-old candidate said. “And the fact I actually did it was a huge learning experience, and it actually influenced items on my platform.” What a hero. Please, everyone, a round of applause for this man.
Itkis said the cause is so important that the stunt was necessary. “I’m very much an introvert,” he said. “I’m kind of a nerd who doesn’t like to be the center of attention if I can avoid it. But I thought the issues I’m trying to address are so important… I wanted to have my issues talked about in some way.” I’m an introvert too, I guess—it just doesn’t manifest in this same way.
On his website’s issues page, Itkis says he wants to take a sex-positive approach to domestic policy. Under sexual rights, it says “right to NOT become a parent in case of pregnancy.” Sounds great ! But the rest of the bullet point reads: “redefine abortion debate as a right to unplanned sex.” Sir, did you mean non-procreative sex?
And somehow it gets worse. Under “abortion rights for women,” the site says “men should not be required to support biological children without prior agreement.” Even the City & State reporter said this sounds like an attack on child support.
Take up to 70% off This huge Beyond Big Savings event at Bed Bath & Beyond has so much in store—but especially great deals on bedding and bedroom furniture.
Itkis is running against incumbent Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), whose campaign didn’t comment on the video, but the Republican candidate in the race did. “You gotta do what you gotta do,” Mike Zumbluskas said. “The media ignores everybody that’s not a Democrat in the city.”
Counterpoint: No person in or running for office should ever show voters their genitals, much less full-on videos of them having sex. It’s one thing if the candidate has previously done sex work , but releasing your own sex tape during a campaign doesn’t make the point you’re thinking it makes. It’s possible to support sex workers’ rights in other ways.

Protecting sex workers is one of his campaign’s three pillars. Apparently, he had to prove it.

Once upon a time, politicians could be ruined by a leaked sex tape. Remember Eliot Spitzer? Now they’re publishing their own porn videos.
Mike Itkis, an Independent candidate running for a New York Congressional seat, released a video on Pornhub titled “Bucket List Bonanza” featuring him having sex with Nicole Sage, an adult actress and model.
Itkis, a former officer in the U.S. military, is the longest of longshots against U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler, a Manhattan Democrat and dean of the Congressional Jewish Caucus, who has served in the House for three decades.
Itkis, 53, said he published the 13-minute video as an act of support for legal sex work, which is one of the three issues that make up his campaign platform; the other two are cybersecurity and ending the war in Ukraine, from which Itkis emigrated in 1979 at age 11.
“ If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue,” he said.
The release is perhaps a sign of changing times in the Manhattan district, whose denizens are more closely associated with Zabar’s — Nadler canvassed outside the historic Jewish deli — than with strip clubs.
The congressional district was recently redrawn to encompass parts of both the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side, pitting Nadler in a primary battle against another longtime Democrat House member, Carolyn Maloney. A major theme of his successful primary campaign was his belief that New York needs to retain at least one Jewish member in its House delegation.
Itkis is, I can tell you definitively after viewing the video, circumcised. And he told me in an email that his Soviet-era documents listed him as Jewish. But he also said he does not consider himself Jewish; his campaign website declares his atheism in bold type, alongside a proclamation that he is “ Not married. No kids. Not celibate.”
There’s little evidence that the legal status of sex work is a pressing issue to the area’s residents. The culture of the Upper West and East sides is known more for run-ins with your grandma’s friend at a bagel shop or synagogue — and, of course, the sort of stuffy, old-money wealth that defined shows such as “Gossip Girl.” It seems more likely that bubbe and zayde would be horrified by the sex video, not compelled.
But District 12 also now includes areas of Queens and Brooklyn, whose residents tend to be younger and less affluent, more likely to work in nightclubs, and perhaps more concerned about protections for sex workers.
Itkis said in a statement that making the video was “one of the most meaningful experiences” of his life, and so central to his campaign that he did not register to run until after it was completed. In the process, he said, he learned about consent and safety in the adult industry.
At multiple points in the video, Sage — who Itkis said is an experienced adult industry performer, and directed the video — faces the camera, fully clad in a professional blazer (Itkis is in a suit) to announce a safeword and affirm that she was not coerced into sex. She adds that she has reviewed the results of Itkis’s tests for sexually transmitted diseases and knows the video will be publicly released.
On Itkis’ website, the policies listed as part of his “sex positive approach” are muddled. One advocates redefining the abortion debate “as a right to unplanned sex” and another says that “men should not be required to support biological children without prior agreement,” appearing to deny an automatic responsibility for child support.
I will admit that I skimmed the video, so I may have missed any deeply meaningful policy points Itkis might have expounded upon between sex positions. But the rest of it seems to be pretty basic, straight sex — nothing rough, nothing kinky.
The video is clearly, at least in part, a publicity stunt; “you gotta do what you gotta do,” Mike Zumbluskas, the Republican in the race, told the digital news outlet City and State . “The media ignores everybody that’s not a Democrat in the city.”
It’s certainly drawing attention, with articles in outlets including Newsweek, Jezebel and The Daily Beast, and 20,600 views on the video itself (though only a 63 thumbs-up ratings). But as for Itkis’ electoral prospects as a candidate, it’s not very enlightening. “Having watched the video, I now know your ‘positions,'” wrote one commenter on PornHub. “Where do you stand on monetary policy?”
It’s worth noting that Nadler also supports abortion and LGBTQ rights, despite not — yet! — including porn in his campaign.

A n underdog third-party congressional hopeful in New York is turning heads in his long-shot bid to unseat incumbent Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY).
Mike Itkis released a pornographic video Bucket List Bonanza to draw attention to his sex-positive campaign platform. He claimed the flick was his first time engaging in that type of naughty behavior on camera but is hoping it will provoke a discussion.
“I’m kind of a nerd who doesn’t like to be the center of attention if I can avoid it. But I thought the issues I’m trying to address are so important … I wanted to have my issues talked about in some way," he told City and State NY .
Itkis is a former Army cyber operations officer who is expected to lose to Nadler in the midterm elections. His platform calls for the legalization of sex work and argues that "men should not be required to support biological children without prior agreement," among other positions.
His 13-minute video was posted to a pornography website and features behavior between him and adult film star Nicole Sage.
“If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue. And the fact I actually did it was a huge learning experience, and it actually influenced items on my platform," he added in an interview with City and State NY .
Itkis has billed himself as "very liberal," as well as "Not married. No kids. Not celibate. Atheist." Both he and Republican nominee Mike Zumbluskas are seeking to unseat Nadler in New York's 12th Congressional District race.
Nadler faced a bruising primary contest for the seat after redistricting put him on a collision course with Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), he but managed to edge her out. The district overwhelming leans Democrat, according to FiveThirtyEight .
He chairs the House Judiciary Committee.
