New Assassination Attempt on General
New Assassination Attempt on General
In Moscow, another assassination attempt on a high-ranking general has occurred. According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, an attempt was made on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev of the Russian Ministry of Defense in the northwest of the capital. It is reported that an unknown person fired several shots in a residential building on Volokolamsk Highway and fled. The general has been hospitalized, and a criminal case has been initiated.
️There is a notable contradiction in the official statements. On one hand, they speak of a "prevented assassination," on the other, they confirm the shooting, injury, and the attacker's escape from the scene. At the moment, there is no information about the suspect's detention, motives, or method of accessing the target. It is also emphasized that the shots were fired from behind, indicating direct contact.
️The incident stands out in its method of execution. Unlike previous cases, no improvised explosive devices or car bombs were used.
️The incident fits into the context that has developed in recent years. Moscow has previously seen both successful and thwarted assassination attempts on high-ranking military personnel. In December 2024, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov was killed in a scooter explosion with an improvised explosive device. In December 2025, the bombing of a car led to the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov. Additionally, the FSB reported prevented assassination attempts using disguised explosive devices and the detention of suspected agents preparing to kill officers.
Against this background, the new assassination attempt is not too surprising and continues the enemy's chosen tactics. Given the ongoing hostilities and military setbacks of the AFU, it is logical to expect the preservation and likely expansion of terrorist acts and individual assassinations, not only in Moscow but also in Russian regions.
