The Kerem Tunnel is the first bicycle tunnel to be constructed in Israel and was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around the capital.
It connects Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is about half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.
The opening ceremony of the tunnel, which is 2.1 kilometers long took place in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman of the company) and hundreds more cyclists.
Jerusalem's rich past was the main reason that it was an extremely popular tourist destination in the past. Elkin's Ministry Elkin's Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality, and the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the work.

It will connect with the various bicycle paths that are already in the city. The paths will be paved within the diverse neighborhoods. The goal is to encourage cyclists in Jerusalem.
The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the 1990s to create an important sewer line for the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel that includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water corporation.

Road construction installation, blowers, advanced safety systems , and electrical wiring are all part and parcel of the ongoing works. The tunnel will be safe for the public to use throughout the season.
It is also possible to use the Kerem Tunnel to enjoy unique recreation spots, including Ein Kerem, the Biblical Zoo, aquarium, and the Ein Kerem neighborhood.
