The Kerem Tunnel, the first bicycle tunnel in Israel, has been inaugurated as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around the capital city.

The tunnel links Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entrance is located within Refaim Park below Ein Laban. The northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem about half one kilometer from the Kerem junction.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Michael, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and hundreds of cyclists participated in a ceremony to mark the opening of the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Elkin's Ministry Elkin's Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the project.

"The Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool to realize the vision to alter the notion of transportation throughout Jerusalem," Elkin said.
