NEW YORK - Sep. 8 2022, /PRNewswire/ The Israel Ministry of Tourism today announced new records for the number of tourists coming to Israel from the United States in July and august. The country welcomed 78,000 tourists from the United States during July 2022 which is an increase of 4% over the year before and 71,000 tourists from the United States during August 2022. That's a 13% increase over the year before.
Eyal Carlin (North American Tourism Commissioner) stated that it was exciting to observe the growth in Israeli tourism coming from the United States. Already surpassing the record-breaking numbers of 2019 he stated. "The United States is the most popular destination for Israel inbound tourism. Actually, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had record-breaking numbers of tourism entry each month. https://www.makorrishon.co.il/mumlazim/523585/ It's a great positive shift that we are pleased to witness and anticipate an upward trajectory for many months to be."
Canada which isn't too far behind the United States of America, is on track for surpassing the number of tourists visiting Israel. It had 7,200 visitors in the month of July 2022, and 6,000 visitors in tourists in August.
"It is so exciting to see how Canada's tourism to Israel is growing," said Gal Hana, Consul and Director for Canada for the Israel Ministry of Tourism. We're still not away from our record-setting 2019 numbers and we expect that this growth in Israel travel will continue to grow as Canadians are more comfortable traveling abroad."
Israel has welcomed more than 4.6 million visitors in the year 2019. 969,600 were of the United States. The country's official reopening for all tourists in May has seen more than 600,000.
