NEW YORK - Sep. 8 2022 /PRNewswire/ The Israel Ministry of Tourism today announced new records for the number of tourists coming to Israel from the United States in July and august. Israel welcomed 78,000 tourists from the United States for July 2022. This is a four% rise over 2019, and 71,000 visitors from the United States for August 2022. This represents an increase of 13% over the year before.
Eyal Carlin is the North American Tourism Commissioner of the United States. He stated, "It's so exciting to again see an increase of tourism to Israel from America, which is already exceeding or even surpassing the record-breaking numbers we saw in 2019". "The United States is our most popular destination for tourism to Israel prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were celebrating record-breaking numbers of tourism entries every month. We're so happy to see such a positive shift and we anticipate an increase in the coming years and months to follow."
Canada is also on track, like the United States, to surpass the amount of tourists that visit Israel. In July 2022, Canada received 7,200 visitors and August saw 6,600.
Gal Hana, Consul for Canada and Director of the Israel Ministry of Tourism declared that "it's amazing to see how tourism in Canada is recovering." "We are not too far away from our record 2019 numbers We are hoping that this growth in tourism to Israel will further increase as Canadians continue to feel more at ease traveling internationally."
Israel has welcomed more than 4.6 million tourists from abroad in 2019, with 969.600 coming from the United States. In May 2018, Israel opened its doors to all visitors, regardless if they are vaccination-free. Israel has already hosted more than 600,000.
