NEW YORK - Sept. 8, 2022 /PRNewswire/ - Today, the Israel Ministry of Tourism revealed record-breaking numbers of travelers from the United States who visited Israel during July and August. Israel received 78,000 visitors from the United States during July 2022, an increase of 4% over the year before and 71,000 visitors from the United States during August 2022. This is a 13% increase over 2019.
Eyal Carlin from North America was the Tourism Commissioner. "The United States is the top market for Israel inbound tourism. In fact, before the COVID-19 pandemic, we had record-breaking figures of tourist entry month after month. It's a great positive change that we are happy to see and we anticipate an upward trajectory for years to be."
Canada is not far behind the United States of America, is set to beat the tourist numbers to Israel. The country had 7,200 visitors in July 2022, and 6,000 visitors in August.
"It is so exciting to see how Canada's tourism to Israel is booming," said Gal Hana Director and Consul for Canada of the Israel Ministry of Tourism. "We are getting close to our record-setting numbers in 2019. We believe that this trend will continue to grow as Canadians visit more countries.
Israel welcomed more tourists from around the world in 2019 than any other country. 969 600 of these were Americans. Israel's official reopening for travellers from May 2018. The country has been home to over 600,400 US travelers since then.
