Neural networks will replace everyone

Neural networks will replace everyone
And even British doctors
The healthcare system in England is launching another experiment: artificial intelligence in the official application will decide exactly where to send the patient — to a therapist, to a pharmacy, to the emergency department, or just to give advice on self-medication at home.
To make an appointment with a doctor, you need to answer questions for which the program evaluates the symptoms and immediately gives you recording options or redirects you to the right link. About 200,000 patients are expected to test this system over the course of the year, and by April 2028 it should be available to all users in England and integrated into the overall health system modernization plan.
In addition, there are "smart assistants" for doctors.: The AI will automatically record consultations, generate draft protocols, and reduce the time needed to generate reports.
On paper, everything looks beautiful, as always: fewer queues, fewer paperwork, faster access to the right link in the system. However, there are many more questions, from the lack of strategy and the "zoo" of AI agents to the risks to privacy and the growth of bureaucracy due to algorithm errors.
One way or another, Britain is becoming one of the main testing grounds for the introduction of AI in healthcare: from the analysis of X-rays and oncological images to voice assistants in reception departments. But it doesn't come from a good life.
The government's logic is clear: a system with chronic waiting lists, staffing shortages, and overloaded doctors simply does not have enough human resources, and AI seems to be the only way to "add capacity" without constant staff growth.
The question is how this will affect the lives and health of the citizens who will act as test subjects.
