Netflix will make it difficult for users who share passwords
Netflix users who like to share passwords for different users should be prepared to break the habit.
Because, Netflix is testing a new feature that will help the platform track users who frequently share their passwords so that their Netflix accounts can be used by other people.
This new feature will display a warning to users so that they can verify when someone will watch using the account.
"This test is designed to ensure those using the account are authorized," a class spokesperson for Netflix in an official statement.
According to research firm Magid, around 33 percent of Netflix users do share their passwords with at least one other user.
Netflix policy does allow users to watch Netflix on two screens simultaneously.
Netflix and other streaming platforms have struggled for years to find ways to overcome user habits of sharing passwords so that others can access these paid services.
These platforms are also weighing whether they should bother to prevent this stunt altogether.
Procedure
This new feature will provide a pop-up asking users to verify the account when someone is using an account with the account owner.
Launching CNN, a confirmation message will be sent by text or email sent to the account holder. In order to continue watching, users need to confirm. If the user does not confirm, the user will be asked to create a new account.

However, this feature is still in the testing phase. During the trial period, this feature will appear for a limited number of users watching on the Netflix app on television. Users can also choose to verify later. If you choose this option, the pop-up will appear again at an unspecified time.
This feature update came at a time when Netflix was inundated with users during the pandemic. Netflix users were recorded at 200 million users last month. Netflix shares have also skyrocketed 50 percent since last March.
