NetSpeed Test: What's New !

Test NetSpeed (Google Play || Amazon Appstore) on any app of your choice.

You can essentially consider this as a 0 data usage test since this test uses 0 useless data as it records speed as you use your device as per your need.

Using Smart Test :  Check bandwidth in any app of your choice

• If your device supports multi window, Enable multi window open smart test in one half and the the app on which the speed is doubted in the other half and use the suspect app as you normally do for about 2-5 minutes. You can see the data used, max and average speed along with live bandwidth as graph.

• Else, Just open smart test screen; then go home and open the app on which the speed is doubted and use it as you normally do for about 2-5 minutes .Then resume the Netspeed test app from multitasking screen or app icon.
  This test requires you to keep the app open in the background when you need to test your netspeed.

The graph should help estimate the stability of bandwidth as per usage.

If upon returning to Netspeed test the app relaunched the home activity. This can occur when your device lacks the memory to be able to run this test. In that case we suggest you to close unrequired background running apps and processes and re-run the test.

If upon returning to the app the values are all 0 then your device manufacturer or android version lacks the API to perform this test.

How to find if ISP is throttling speed on apps?

In most cases the ISP may not be at fault for lower speed on specific apps, sometimes the sites themselves may be restricting the maximum bandwidth a user can use on their website.

You can compare the test results obtained from

• smart test with the bandwidth you observe with the suspecting app.
• smart test when downloading files from the internet/apps from play store

and compare the maximum bandwidth offered by the two and can also compare the charts if you store screenshots of the tests you perform and compare. The two speeds observed can be used to ascertain if your bandwidth is being throttled in the suspecting app.
