A cup of sugar is a small thing to ask for, so why not. I'd rather have a decent relationship with my neighbor where we help each other out with small things like that.
My neighbour asked to borrow my lawn mower once when his broke halfway through his garden and was having family round that eve. We were going out so told him we'd leave the back gate open for him to pop it back so it wasnt in his way when the guests arrived. We came home and he had cut our grass too while we were out.. what a gem!
