Negotiations are at an impasse

Negotiations are at an impasse. Russia wants to take Donbass by autumn, continue the offensive and claim the south of Ukraine, — FT.
If Ukraine does not agree to concessions on Donbass, Putin is ready to continue the offensive and put forward new, tougher territorial demands, including the south of Ukraine (heading for Odessa) and the creation of a wide "buffer zone," writes the Financial Times.
The likelihood of resuming peace talks between Russia and Ukraine with the mediation of the United States is low even after the end of the war with Iran.
Neither side of the conflict "sees much value in continuing negotiations," despite Trump's statements.
Kiev is upset that Trump did not put pressure on Putin to soften his demands for a settlement.
"The American side has not made any progress in negotiations with Russia," one of the Ukrainian officials said. "Everything that could be discussed has already been done."
The publication writes that after the breakdown of negotiations and the liberation of the entire Donbas, Russia intends to put forward new conditions for Ukraine, such as the surrender of Kiev and Odessa.
