The sex is more pleasurable, lasting, and you reduce the risk of tearing or unnecessary irritation when you use lube.
And if you’re not using it already, you should be . Plus, if you’re trying to combat vaginal dryness, lube and moisturizing in tandem is key. Vaginal dryness can stem from oral contraceptives, menopause, or a recent pregnancy. Moisturizing and nurturing your vagina is important and essential to a comfortable sex life.
Okay, so what happens when you do find a lubricant that you enjoy but you aren’t too fond of the lengthy list of chemicals packed inside of a tiny tube of K-Y Jelly? Even worse, your moisturizer can is causing irritation and bacterial infections due to its drying ingredients. Gluconolactone? Methylparaben? Sodium Hydroxide? Unfortunately, what some of these ingredients accomplish is an unnecessary cleaning of the vagina and it results in killing the healthy bacteria inside of the vagina too.
Let’s challenge these chemicals and go au natural. Instead of the sex shop, take a look inside of your pantry, or your favorite indoor plant, for some common alternatives to store-bought lubes and moisturizers.
Aloe Vera is known to reduce inflammation of the skin because of its antibacterial qualities. Acne, sunburns, and rashes can all be eased by rubbing the gel from inside of the aloe leaf on your skin. The plant is a detoxifier and antiseptic for the nervous system, which means you can drink this stuff too! Additionally, it can be utilized for genital skin inflammation, like herpes, and its long list of benefits include a two in one natural lubricant and moisturizer. Because the aloe’s pH is lower than water , it can keep your vagina healthy without changing the pH balance like most products.
Even better, aloe is safe to use with condoms since it does not contain any oils.
Always make sure to use 100% pure aloe, which is why an actual aloe plant is the safest option. In order to ensure that you aren’t allergic to the plant, rub some of the gel on the inside of your elbow.
As it has proven time and time again, coconut oil is the answer. The compounds and fatty acids in coconut oil contribute to its hydrating and lubricating properties . The product relieves dryness and is a source of vitamin E, which is another natural product that increases natural secretion and moisture. Coconut oil is anti-fungal which is great in preventing yeast infections, something that can lead to painful intercourse. Do I need to go on? This stuff is powerful.
Since some natural oils can break down condoms, coconut oil should not be used when wearing a condom. Like the aloe vera, make sure the product is virgin and unrefined.
Another oil, another miracle. Olive oil regulates many bodily functions and can help the digestive system, hormonal system, circulatory systems, etc. Eat this stuff up!
Like, coconut, olive oil can be massaged on the outside of the vagina and on the inside. Olive oil is a wonderful ingredient for dry skin and irritation. This product is incredibly convenient because most of us just have to open our pantry in order to find a bottle. It’s great for stimulation and massaging and can be used as a lubricant (without a condom) or a moisturizer.
Since olive oil is not water soluble , it can last for hours and provide long-lasting moisture.
Moisturizing and lube aren’t necessary but they do add to the comfort of your vaginal hygiene and sexual experience. Bonus: these products can be used for masturbation (but not with silicone sex toys) — take advantage of their natural properties.
In addition to these two oils and plant based product, the list goes on with natural lubricants and moisturizers. Vitamin E, canola oil, vegetable oil, etc., can all be brought into the bedroom. As always, consult a doctor and test out the product before application.
What kind of natural products do you recommend?
