Once again on Sunday 1 September the 2012 record of "redheads in one place" was broken. The 8th edition of the Redhead Days took place from 30 August to 1 September 2013. For the first time in this event's history the activities were partially sponsored by means of crowdfunding. 2015 anniversary edition took place on 4-6 September 2015 in Breda. Breda played host to the 7th edition of the Redhead Days from 31 August to 2 September 2012. Owing to its large global appeal this festival officially changed its name from the Dutch "Roodharigendag" to the "Redhead Days". Contrary to popular belief that this is a recent term, the use of “ginger” to describe a redhead begins sometime in the late 18th century in Britain. Celebrated annually on 5th Nov, National Redhead day would usually see a large gathering of 'gingers' from across the UK joining in celebration of the uniqueness of red hair. That’s because the gene which causes fiery locks is recessive, meaning you would need the gene from both parents for a child to have red hair.
