A GAME of Thrones star, who plays a 12-year-old on the show, has admitted that he was disturbed by a “messed up” sex scene he filmed with a much older co-star.
Dean-Charles Chapman, who plays King Tommen Baratheon, was just 16 years old when he filmed the nude scene with then 32-year-old actress Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell.
“It was very disturbing,” said Chapman to MTV after watching season five’s episode, High Sparrow .
“Normally when my stuff’s on the telly, I don’t watch my own bits. But this was such a big scene for my character, so I checked it out.
“It’s just really weird as a viewer to watch — even if I watch it, it’s pretty messed up, because Tommen is such a young kid. Margaery is like, this fully grown woman, who is really just using Tommen for the power she can get from him.”
Chapman said he was “shocked” when he read the script and found out about the sex scene, but added that the producers did all they could to make him feel comfortable during filming.
“I only had my top off; underneath the quilt I had trackies on and stuff ... But Natalie — I pat her on the back for what she did.”
COVID-19 has forced author George R.R. Martin to churn out more pages in his long-awaited Game Of Thrones book six, pushing forward the release date. But that’s two years too late after the TV series went its own way, Duncan Lay writes.
He was killed off in season four but that didn’t stop Charles Dance enjoying further seasons of Game of Thrones. That is, until the finale came along.
Information from the casting call for the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel has disclosed who the leading characters will be.

Spoilers for the latest "Game of Thrones" episode, "High Sparrow," lie ahead!
On Sunday night's (April 27) episode of " Game of Thrones ," quite a few things happened that readers of George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series were not expecting. First and foremost, there was the fact that Sansa Stark is now betrothed to Ramsay Snow Bolton, which is a sharp turn from her storyline in the "Feast for Crows" book.
But even more visually shocking for readers and viewers alike was the love scene between King Tommen Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell -- which, again, never happens in the books, due to the large age difference between the two characters. They made Tommen a bit older on the series, but actor Dean-Charles Chapman was still 16 years old when he filmed the scene... while his scene partner Natalie Dormer was 33.
"It was very disturbing," Chapman told MTV News over the phone on Monday, after he watched his first love scene on the big screen. "Normally when my stuff’s on the telly, I don’t watch my own bits. But this was such a big scene for my character, so I checked it out... I found out about that scene by reading the script, and I was really shocked. I didn’t think it would have gone down like that on screen. I was nervous to just be pretend marrying Natalie Dormer."
As "disturbing" and Kylie-and-Tyga-esque as it was to view on screen, however, Chapman added that his time on set was made easier by the calming presence of Dormer, who is a seasoned pro at this sort of thing by now.
"Natalie is a lovely person, she made it all completely smooth," Chapman added. "It’s just really weird as a viewer to watch -- even if I watch it, it’s pretty messed up, because Tommen is such a young kid. Margaery is like, this fully grown woman, who is really just using Tommen for the power she can get from him... But it’s good for me."
Also good for Chapman was the help of showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who he said had a "conversation amongst themselves" about how to make the scenes easier for Dormer and Chapman. This included a run-through to eliminate any unnecessary awkwardness, and a severely limited number of behind-the-scenes people present on set.
"On the day of filming, normally when you go to shoot a scene, you just have a run-through, and this run-through was really… The rehearsal was really just a chance to get comfortable with it; to open up and say if I wasn’t comfortable with anything. [We filmed with] the director, the main camera-man, then there were a couple of dudes that helped out the camera man -- like five or six people in the room. Not even that, probably like four, while it was happening. It was definitely limited."
Then of course, Chapman had to learn to be comfortable with the nudity. Even though the scene lasted mere minutes during the show, "when you’re there and actually facing Natalie Dormer, it seems to go on for years."
"It’s pretty weird," he continued. "I only had my top off; underneath the quilt I had trackies on and stuff. So that was all good; I was all good. But Natalie -- I pat her on the back for what she did."
Surprisingly enough, despite the emotional aspects of filming one's first love scene with a much older human, Chapman also told MTV News that -- from the shooting standpoint -- Sunday night's love scene was a cakewalk compared to shooting with the famously fluffy bundle of love that is Ser Pounce.
"The longest day was definitely the Ser Pounce scene, because it was just over and over and over again, trying to get the cat to do the same thing," Chapman said. "The bedroom scene, that was the most nervous and scared and highly anticipated thing I’ve ever done -- but it was all smooth."
Woah, woah woah. Hold the phone there, Chapman -- are you trying to suggest that you don't miss our favorite candidate for the Iron Throne as much as we do? Do you dare throw shade in the direction of Ser Pounce?!
"I think the audience must miss him," Chapman course-corrected. "People were obsessed with him. He was a bit of a diva, but at the end of the day he’s only a cat, so when the director and the trainers are trying to get him to stand in position on the bed, or run off in a certain direction, it was a bit of a obstacle to get him to do it. But in the end, the final shot looks great, and he doesn’t really look like a diva. In truth, he was a bit of a bugger on set. But I’d like to see him back, I would. It’s down to the showrunners."
Benioff and Weiss -- make it happen.
And for what Chapman himself wants to see go down with his character, the actor said he wouldn't mind seeing just a little inner-King Joffrey come out to deal with all of those devious women.
"I think he’s just going to become a maniac one day and kill everybody," Chapman joked. "That’s what I’m hoping for -- the biggest story twist of all time. No, but I hope he stands up to Cersei or Margaery one day. I think he will."

Even though it's over, if there's one thing Game of Thrones remains notorious for—aside from that divisive and disappointing ending, of course—it's the sex scenes (opens in new tab) that littered the series. From season one, episode one, Game of Thrones proved that it was a show that was not afraid to show plenty of sex scenes, (opens in new tab) from young hotties Daenerys and Jon Snow to the incestuous pairing that were Cersei and Jamie. Yes, there was plenty of death in Game of Thrones (some would say a depressing and unnecessary amount of death), including many of the people above—it's been over for a while, guys, I'm not going to apologize for the spoiler—but those heartbreaking death scenes were far outweighed by a long list of scorching hot (and, okay, if we're being totally honest here, some not as hot) sex scenes. (opens in new tab)
Game of Thrones wasn't shy about exploring sex in many different forms and between many different characters. Some of the show's love scenes were hard to watch (but some real-life sex is not the greatest either, so who are we to judge), but many of them were flaming hot like dragon fire. That's why we think it's appropriate that we've utilized a very scientific, very official fire emoji (🔥)-based system to rank the best Game of Thrones sex scenes. Below, we count down Game of Thrones ' best and most iconic sexy time moments, from the not-at-all sexy to the ones that might as well have had characters literally screaming "DRACARYS" in ecstasy.
Trigger warning: rape, violence. Joffrey was the absolute worst and his masochistic sex scene with Ros and Daisy was nightmare-worthy, even though the show (thankfully) cut away before we actually had to witness the implied acts.
Trigger warning: rape. When it comes to hard-to-watch Game of Thrones scenes, Daenerys and Khal Drogo's wedding night is up there. The couple gained a devoted following of shippers over the years, but their wedding night scene is...horrible.
Margaery Tyrell was in it to win it when it came to her rightful spot as the future queen of Westeros. Before she married Joffrey and dodged a bullet when he died before their wedding night, she was with Renly Baratheon, another early hopeful for the Iron Throne. Unfortunately, even the unadulterated hotness of Natalie Dormer couldn't save this sex scene, since Renly was gay and not into even the objectively sexiest of ladies.
Do not @ me. This might not be the *hottest* sex scene ever, but we challenge you to find a sweeter moment of intimacy in all of Game of Thrones.
Did Melisandre ultimately seduce Gendry with the goal of surprising him by bringing leeches into the bedroom to suck out some of his blood for some ritual? Yes. Was it hot in a BDSM-y way? Yes.
Look, we know this scene was 50 shades of weird. But it makes the list because there has been so much hype surrounding Jon and Dany's relationship, *and* because Jon Snow's butt (opens in new tab) went viral, *and* because it single-handedly convinced most of the internet that incest between aunts and nephews is just fine. Help! What is life!
You would think Theon would know when and how to keep it in his pants, but it seems that day will never come. The idea of hooking up on a horse is what makes this scene so steamy, just not the part about finding out it was with his sister.
Daenerys' asshole older brother Viserys doesn't last long in the series (you don't just keep crossing a beloved Khaleesi and live to tell about it), but he managed to sneak in a bathtub sex scene with Daenerys' handmaid, Doreah, before he bowed out under weight of his golden crown.
Theon is a boy, but also a dangerous one. Still Ros handles him with a kind of fearlessness you have to respect. pic.twitter.com/vr6xD20ZW0 August 10, 2016
Ros is great. Theon is meh. Their sex is...hotter than Theon sex should really be.
In Season 4, Cersei decided to reveal her inappropriately close twin-ly relationship with Jaime to their super uptight dad, Tywin, and then proceeded to have twincestous monkey sex with her brother on a table. As you do?
Jaime and Cersei have several intimate moments over the course of the series, but by Season 7, Cersei is on the Iron Throne no longer gives any f*cks about people knowing that she and her brother are a ~thing~. There's something kind of hot about the brazen confidence in this later-era GOT twincest moment.
It's the night before the Battle of Winterfell, and Arya wants to get down for the first time before she could potentially die as she faces the White Walkers. Was it the most comfortable scene to watch? Not necessarily, but Arya and Gendry were reunited after many years of separation, and that is worth celebrating.
We're including Cersei and Jaime's debut incestual sex scene on this list because it's completely insane, broke a million taboos, and—to be honest—was kinda steamy. Let's just forget about the fact that they're siblings, mmmkay?
This one isn't the steamiest in GOT history by a long shot, but Tyrion getting it on with Ros at a Winterfell brothel in season one was probably the most perfect introduction we could have had to both characters.
Game of Thrones definitely knows how to make a weird sex scene weirdly hot and Stannis and Melisandre hooking up on a battle map to make a smoke monster baby definitely qualifies—on both counts.
So, two wrong things (people in this case) shouldn't make a right, but the lip biting, to the point of bleeding, in this scene is superb. It's such an intense amount of passion from two equally crazy people.
If you don't remember this one, you're not to be blamed. This loved up moment went down between Bronn and one of the prostitutes in Littlefinger's brothel way back in Season 3, but it was pretty damn hot.
Before seeking out mutual respect in her sexual relationship with Khal Drogo, Daenerys got lessons in lovemaking (sorry) from one of her handmaids, who taught her to make eye contact and encouraged her to be on top. To quote: "You will make him like it, Khaleesi. Men want what they've never had."
Pod is one of the least assuming characters in all of Westeros, so it was beyond perfect when Tyrion hired an entire brothel of ladies to take his virginity and—twist alert—it turned out that Pod was such an incredible and natural lover that the prostitutes insisted on giving him the money back.
Daenerys took a long time to get over the death of Khal Drogo, but once she did, it was insanely hot.
Nothing says "anything goes" like "I'm 99 percent sure I'm going to die in battle tomorrow" sex. And that's the kind of sex Tyrion and his one-time true love Shae have the first night they meet. Hawt.
This scene was A) a long time coming, and B) featured oral sex on a woman—which just doesn't get as much screen time as it deserves on TV. But the great thing about the moment is it wasn't just built out of lust and sexual tension. These two have been hopelessly smitten forever, and to see them so vulnerable was extremely sweet.
While Game of Thrones doesn't have nearly as much male nudity as it does female, they've featured several gay sex scenes—like this oral sex scene between Loras and Renly.
This scene makes the list because—like Jon and Ygritte—there was *so much* sexual tension leading up to it. But the best part? How Talisa had to undo all the fancy laces on Robb's leather vest. Tragically, it's impossible to watch without crying due to Red Wedding related trauma, so have fun with that.
Dracarys level: 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
After years of these-two-are-probably-definitely-soul-mates tension, Jaime and Brienne finally got it on in the show's final season. Just don't think about the fact that Jaime ruins it by leaving Brienne for his sister/lover Cersei pretty much immediately after.
Dracarys level: 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
Sorry, Pod, but this is Westeros' hottest orgy to date. The Dornishmen (and women) really know how to bring the fire emojis.
