A higher Caliber Warfilm about World War 2, than an average viewer might expect.
So far, this movie is only available in Russian Language. I believe this movie will come out as successful as FORTRESS OF WAR, THE BOMBER, ADMIRAL, and a few more titles, that have been released with English subtitles. I watched the ones above all in their earlier Russian language version, because I couldn't wait. So did I view this one. The new Russian movies about world war 2 are way more forward with the facts, than the old soviet ones are. NKVD troops (acting on Stalins direct edicts) are brutal and merciless. They don't seem to care, if their subjects are guilty of the crime or not : desertion, collaborating with the enemy, or disobeying soviet orders. Facts of disproof seem to be a mere nuisance to them. A high ranking soviet Brigade General ( our protagonist)just went through such NKVD treatment with a new set of golden teeth, the old ones have been beaten out of him. His expertise is desperately needed in building a new defenseline to slow down the German advance towards Moscow in the month of July. The year is 1941, and the Wehrmacht seems to be unstoppable. Our protagonist acts quickly, organizing a new defensive line on the Dneiper River, with the city of Smolonsk in his back.Something really hard to do, because 100 000's of Refugee's are clogging the roads. The troops at his disposal are some 45mm anti tank units, demoralized but rallied troops, a batch of conscript with very little experience a understrenght regiment of regular red army equipped with anti tank rifles, and a Recon unit equipped with BA-65 armored cars. Also an armored train for artillery support, very few anti aircraft guns and no air support. There is a little fortress on the main highway, buying him some time. The Germans don't loose much time to through everything nasty, at his little army: Squadrons of Stuka's and Me-109's, Dozens of Mark II and III tanks, heavy 150 mm artillery and armored SdKfz armored personal carriers. No substitute equipment at play here, like we are used from older warflicks. Yes, the ruski film makers use a lot of CGI and other clever special effects but the battles look pretty authentic to an old war movie buff like me. Also the acting is great, the actors are believable doing their period characters. I don't know, how a war movie currently could be made any better. This one scores with me in the same league as "The Pacific" "Band of Brothers" and "Saving Private Ryan ".

This series showed all the main characters in the first two episodes. And they come across as disgusting, rude, virulent. I don't want to cross paths with people like that in life. I don't want to empathize with any of them. And I have no interest in their fate. I'd rather rewatch Fear the Walking Dead.

A new yeti 'sighting' has been made in Siberia, along with pictures of 'footprints' of the legendary creature, it is claimed.
The head of the village council in Kulyaba, Novosibirsk region, claimed he had a 'close encounter' last month that left him 'greatly scared' while also frightening the local cows.
Separately, the alleged footprint was found by a hunter and fisherman more recently some 36 miles away in the same Kyshtovsky district.
Siberian locals claimed they saw a yeti emerging from these woods near Kulyaba
They said the beast, which left behind these footprints, scared a herd of local cattle
Shadrin said: 'I would have never believed it unless I had seen it with my own yeses;
Local politician Alexander Shadrin said he was on his motorbike riding close to Kulyaba at around 10pm when he saw a herd of cows stampeding towards him.
'I would never believe this if I had not seen with my own eyes,' he said.
'After work, it was already 10 pm. I was riding on a motorcycle in my district.
'I suddenly saw the cows running towards me.
'After the cows ran away, I saw glowing eyes in the dark.
'At first I thought it was a calf that had lagged behind.
'And when I was some 15 metres from this creature and lit it with my headlight, I realised what it really was - and even my heels turned cold.'
The Siberian Times quoted him saying of the 'yeti': 'Its height was roughly 2.5 metres, all hairy - light silver hairs.
Yesterday it was claimed a Bigfoot was filmed walking through a waterfall in Indonesia
Separately, alleged yeti footprints were found beside the Chyoka River, close to the village of Eryomino in the same district.
Fisherman Alexei Kovalenko told he had run out of worms as bait and went to dig some more.
'I went along the river to dig some, and I saw a footstep,' he said.
'I initially thought that it was a human's. I looked closer and realised that it did not look like a human's .
'It also did not look like bear's footprint.
'I'm a hunter, and I know what a bear's mark is like.
'It has a different shape and claws...
'And this one has no claws. And judging by the footsteps it walked strangely - toes inside, and the step is wide.
'The footsteps were strongly pressed into the ground, obviously because of the weight of the creature.
'Obviously the creature had come from Bespyatovka [abandoned village], crossed the Chyoka River and went on to the creek on the other side.'
The trail led to a sandy area nearby.
'The footstep was clear as the sand was wet... The step width is big, meaning the creature was high,' he said.
'I rushed to my wife, she took a camera and we made pictures.'
Another fisherman Alexander Goloburdo, from Kyshtovka village, also a hunter, said: 'They are not human. The toe are pressed, and the trace of the heel is barely noticeable.
'Apparently, he is walking quietly, almost silently.'
These are reported to be the first claims of the evidence of yeti for more than a year in Siberia.
Most alleged sightings or finds of 'footprints' or 'hair' have been made in neighbouring Kemerovo region, where officials claimed five years ago to have found 'indisputable proof' of the yeti's existence.
However, foreign experts debunked the claims with DNA tests in 2013.
Oxford University genetics expert Professor Bryan Sykes, of the Wolfson Institute, found that three samples of suspected 'Yeti hair' from the region belong to other animals.
One was from a horse, another a racoon and a third from an American Black Bear.
The latter two are not native to Russia.
