NASTY Nick Bateman was the original Big Brother villain we all loved to hate.
Here's what happened to the first housemate to be removed from the Big Brother house.
Nick, now 53, appeared on the original series of Big Brother in 2000, setting the standard for future housemates by playing fellow contestants against each other.
He was finally exposed by the other housemates when they realised he had been manipulating them, ending with eventual winner Craig confronting him on behalf of the group on day 35.
The episode itself drew in 6million viewers as he was finally confronted.
Craig said: “Basically, I have to say it Nick, I am very disappointed in yourself.
“I not only feel but am quite positive and have got evidence that you’re plotting a very dirty plan on everyone in here.”
As instructing nominations is against Big Brother rules, he was removed from the house despite never receiving a nomination from the group.
After leaving the show, Nick decided to turn his new nickname into a money-spinner and released his first book, How to be a Complete B*****d in 2001.
He then became a journalist for national newspapers, even writing a column for The Sun for a brief period of time.
Despite being initially hated, the dastardly contestant managed to win people back over when he participated in Ultimate Big Brother in 2010 – coming 5 th place and losing out to BB2’s Brian Dowling.
Big Brother winner Craig Phillips revealed that the last person he saw from his series was Nick - but he was left surprised when the TV villain told fibs to impress Craig's wife Laura.
Craig told us: "The last person I saw was Nasty Nick. Laura and I went travelling around Asia and then went on to Australia - Sydney and Perth.
"I knew Nick was living in Sydney so I spent four or five hours with him over a couple of bottles of wine.
"Sometimes you can catch him when he’s a bit normal but because Laura was there it was lie after lie after lie!"
However, Nick has also proved he was actually a big softie at heart and has been an avid fundraiser for Cancer Research UK – winning the £10,000 prize pot for them in a celebrity version of quiz show The Weakest Link, and fronting a television campaign for the charity.
Nick has now started a new life in Sydney, Australia, working as a writer and broadcaster.
His Twitter bio reads: “If you knew me based on who I was 16 years ago, you don’t know me at all.”
After Tricky Nicky’s first season, the show has slowly become more and more crazy – and this year’s show is sure to be no exception.
Davina and Rylan, as well as Dermot O'Leary and Emma Willis, will be reflecting on 20 years of the milestone reality show in the new series.
Big Brother: Best Shows Ever kicks off on June 14 at 9pm on E4.

Nicholas Bateman (born 1967), also known as " Nasty Nick ", is a British media personality and a contestant on the first series of the British version of Big Brother . [1]

Nick Bateman grew up in Kent . [2] He worked in the City of London as a broker before taking part in Big Brother . [2] [3]

Bateman first came to public prominence as a contestant on the first series of the UK version of Big Brother . He was one of 40,000 people that applied to be in the first series of Big Brother in the United Kingdom in 2000. During his stay at the Big Brother house, he was the only contestant never to receive a single eviction nomination. However, he was soon dubbed "Nasty Nick" by the tabloid press because of his duplicitous nature, playing members off against one another. After 34 days he was finally exposed by the other housemates after being tipped off by producers, who confronted him over his behaviour and also uncovered his attempts to manipulate fellow housemates' votes in the weekly eviction process, in violation of Big Brother rules. He was asked to leave by the show's producers. [4] [5]

After his departure from the show, Bateman enjoyed media exposure. He went on to present the television show Trust Me . He co-wrote a book entitled Nasty Bateman: How to be a Right Bastard . He has also featured in the reality television series Back to Reality and in the Big Brother pantomime. [6] Later, he featured as the narrator in a stage production of The Rocky Horror Show . [7]

In 2010, Bateman competed in Ultimate Big Brother , [8] the final series of Big Brother on Channel 4, and finished in fifth place. He has appeared in the Channel 5 companion show Big Brother's Bit on the Side since the 2011 Channel 5 relaunch of Big Brother . Bateman also presented a weekly radio show on 107.8 Academy FM (2011) in Kent. He has appeared in pantomime on several occasions. In 2013, he moved to Sydney , Australia. [9]

Big Brother's Nick Bateman appeared on the show 21 years ago where he was labelled 'Nasty Nick' after a series of events where he pinned housemates against each other
Big Brother's Nick Bateman caused quite the stir when he was a contestant in the show 21 years ago when he was labelled Nasty Nick, but what has he done since.
The villain of the house appeared on the show back in 2000 where he pinned housemates against each other but soon got caught out.
However, despite being one of the most controversial people to ever go on the show, he never actually received any nominations against him to be evicted.
Nasty Nick was caught out by producers of the show who then let the others know what was really going on.
However, he was eventually confronted for his actions by Craig Phillips who then went on to win the entire series.
He spoke to Nick on behalf of the group on Day 35, which attracted a total of 6 million viewers to watched Nick's reaction.
Craig said: "Basically, I have to say it Nick, I am very disappointed in yourself.
"I not only feel but am quite positive and have got evidence that you’re plotting a very dirty plan on everyone in here."
Nick was eventually removed from the house as he was instructing nominations which was against the rules.
The now 54 year old decided to move countries in 2013 and is now living in Sydney, Australia where he is working as a freelance writer.
When he left the Big Brother house he went on to continue the TV career and appear on GMTV, Through The Keyhole and Big Brother’s Bit On The Side.
He also appeared on Ultimate Big Brother back in 2010 where he came 5th place when he lost out to Brian Dowling.
He the wrote for the likes of Cosmopolitan, The Guardian and The Independent and published his own book called Nasty Nick: How To Be A Right B****** in 2001.
However, he hit more controversy just last year when he said he was 'thrown under a bus' by a former housemate in 2020.
Craig and Nick's feud was reignited when the pair met up in Australia.
Craig told The Sun that he and his wife Laura were travelling around Australia so met up with nick for a few hours but he told 'lie after lie'.
He said: "The last person I saw was Nasty Nick. Laura and I went travelling around Asia and then went on to Australia - Sydney and Perth.
"I knew Nick was living in Sydney so I spent four or five hours with him over a couple of bottles of wine. Sometimes you can catch him when he’s a bit normal but because Laura was there it was lie after lie after lie!"
But Nick seemed to slip back into his old ways and snapped back with his own comment.
He tweeted: "It’s funny that the people you invite to your house to stay for free, and take time out to see when they visit you in another country, are the ones to throw under the bus for a few £."
