People tend to feel that pretty people get more opportunities and advantage in life than someone who is average or perhaps not as blessed in the looks dept. They react negatively toward those having better looks, better lifestyle, better intelligence, etc. because seeing others having better (or even just perceiving them as better) makes that person feel somehow inadequate or less than. And jealous…
I don’t think there’s such a thing as people being “mean for no reason”. People have bad days, or that’s just how they have developed over the years because they’re unhappy a good chunk of the time—but someone’s behavior usually isn’t personal. Aka, people don’t often think about others (people they don’t know well or just met) much. Also, you might need to be more specific. People who sell you merchandise or services are trained to treat you in a polite way, so I doubt they would treat you in a nasty way. Your friends probably wouldn’t treat you nasty either. People who sell you merchandise or services are trained to treat you in a polite way, so I doubt they would treat you in a nasty way. Your friends probably wouldn’t treat you nasty either. If you mean people on the street you are probably in the wrong place at the wrong time. And maybe you might be taking it a bit too seriously. For example, if someone rushes past you hits your shoulder and says “watch it”, you might think oh what an impolite human being. Depending on my mood I wouldn’t notice or I would glare at the person, roll my eyes and go on with life. Just. Take it easy.
