Naomi Watts Opens Up About Aging in Hollywood and Upcoming Projects

Los Angeles, March 25, 2025 – Academy Award-nominated actress Naomi Watts is speaking out about the challenges of aging in Hollywood while teasing her latest ventures in film and television.

In a candid interview with Variety, Watts, 56, discussed the industry’s shifting attitudes toward women over 50. 'There’s still progress to be made, but I’m grateful for the increasing number of complex roles being written for women my age,' she said. 'It’s refreshing to see stories that reflect real life, not just youth-centric narratives.'

Watts, known for her powerful performances in Mulholland Drive, The Impossible, and 21 Grams, has two major projects on the horizon. She will star in The Friend, a psychological thriller directed by David Mackenzie, and is set to produce and act in a limited series adaptation of the bestselling novel The Last Thing He Told Me.

Beyond her professional work, Watts has been an advocate for mental health awareness and women’s empowerment. She recently partnered with a global wellness brand to promote self-care for women in midlife.

Fans can next see Watts in the upcoming Netflix drama Lies and Deceptions, premiering this fall. With her career showing no signs of slowing down, Watts continues to redefine what it means to be a leading lady in Hollywood.
