Children as young as eight are sharing nude images of themselves on the internet for money through 'sugar daddy' apps.
The troubling revelation concerns New Zealand Police who said children sharing naked images of themselves with each other is common - and vile predators are taking advantage.
Detective Sergeant Heath Jones said in one instance an eight-year-old took naked images of themselves and posted them to YouTube, he told the New Zealand Herald. 
Mr Jones said the child had no idea what they were doing was wrong.
'We have noticed that it is not teenagers, but pre-teens who are exchanging and posting sexualised pictures of themselves,' he said.
Mr Jones said a big part of this problem is young children are being given devices at a young age with limited supervision from parents.

In most cases children are sharing these images between themselves in chat rooms but the material often falls into the hands of predators.
'They are willingly, and conscientiously feeding (predators)' he said.
Chief executive Martin Cocker of online safety organisation Netsafe said a concerning method of sharing these images is through 'sugar daddy' apps.
'You can look for someone with wealth, money and they'll pay you to do things, so young people are seeing the opportunity to get paid to do things,' he told the AM Show.
Mr Cocker said it was important that parents talk to their children about online safety before they reach their teen years when conversations can become more difficult.
He said helpful aids such as software that can be installed on children's computers to help parents keep an eye on what they are doing but added that they should discuss it with them first.
'It is a complicated problem, it is a lot that they need to get their heads around and I don't want to pretend that it's easy,' Mr Cocker said.

Two autistic teens found malnourished, naked and crying inside a locked room in a Brisbane home are in hospital after police discovered the body of their father on Wednesday morning.
Police officers arrived at the property on Midson Street in Stafford, in the city’s north, just after 7am.
They were responding to reports of the sudden death of a man and found the 49-year-old’s body inside. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson told news.com.au they attended the address after a call at 7.19am yesterday for a “medical incident”.
But while in the home, it’s understood officers heard noises coming from a locked bedroom and found two teens aged 17 and 19 inside.

Pictures seen by news.com.au show the boys wearing nappies and playing in the room.
A local man who did not wish to be named told the ABC the boys were “always locked in their room” and that the house smelled putrid and there were chickens in the kitchen.
Paramedics assessed the pair at the scene and they were transported to Prince Charles Hospital.
Their current conditions cannot be confirmed and Nine News reports they both have intellectual disabilities.
Queensland’s Minister for Child Safety Di Farmer described the incident as “horrific”.
“Hearing about events like this in our community is never easy,” Ms Farmer said.

Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles said the discovery of the situation was “tragic”.
“Obviously just based on what I’ve seen in the media reports this is particularly tragic, heart wrenching and no doubt will be investigated in detail, both the Child Safety response as well as what’s happened here,” he said.
Queensland Police declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the young men.
It would only say that the older man’s death is not believed to be suspicious, but they will wait on the results of a post-mortem examination.
Pictures from the backyard of the home show items strewn everywhere, including children’s toys, clothes, an old microwave and paint buckets.
A note on the home’s front fence addressed the boys’ father read: “We will miss you.”
