There is a strawberry social at the club on the weekend, but the last thing 18-year-old Ayesha Mitchell is worried about is what to wear.
That's because the dress code in effect for the party is absolutely nothing.
"We're just going to sit around and eat strawberries and have a great time," Mitchell says.
"And, yes, we will all be pretty much naked."
Going to parties in the nude is nothing new for this young naturist.
She lives and spends much of her time on Bare Oaks, a family oriented nudist park in Sharon, Ont., north of Newmarket, where, in addition to partying, people are encouraged to let everything hang out as they camp, play sports and socialize.
Mitchell, who moved to the 20-hectare park with her family three years ago, says being comfortable with yourself and everyone around you is exactly what she enjoys about the naturist philosophy.
"Everyone loves the fact that you can just be yourself and be comfortable in your skin," she says about the park which boasts high-tech wireless cabins, pristine lakes and saltwater pools (which are known to be softer on bare skin).
"It's so different than high school, college and the regular world that people my age usually live in," says Mitchell, who attends George Brown College.
"In the real world, there is a lot of politics. It's all about what you wear, how you dress and how you look.
"But in the park, no one cares about that at all."
Recent media reports about the sale of a number of aging naturist camps across the country have spurred rumours that the nudist heyday is history and that younger Canadians are just not into baring it all in clubs where the vast majority of patrons are the same age as their parents.
But a number of teens who choose to spend their days and nights in the buff say that while the interest from their end is still there, naturist clubs need to do more to cater to a younger demographic.
"The owners of many of these clubs are in need of a revival," says Stéphane Deschenes, 41, president of the Federation of Canadian Naturists.
"They got very big or very full in the '70s and generally stopped growing or evolving," says Deschenes, who recently bought Bare Oaks and is working to make it more youth-oriented.
It's a problem that hasn't gone unnoticed by Christine, 16, who officially joined the naturist lifestyle three years ago, after having grown up in a home where nudity was the norm.
"There is a definite lack of options for teenagers at the clubs," says Christine, who lives near Edmonton but often attends clubs in Ontario during the summer.
"So, if there's nothing for us to do, why would we come?"
She suggests the awkwardness of being a teenager is another reason why there are few young naturists.
"It's hard for many teens, because you're sensitive and you are getting used to your body as you change into an adult."
Christine says, in many naturists groups, kids usually drop out when they hit about 10 or 11 but then reappear when they are in their 20s.
"I get frustrated when I hear people say teens have no interest, because my feeling is that we are changing and exploring.... It may just be that, at the moment, we are going through a phase where that's not something we're comfortable doing," she said.
Another problem, these young naturists say, is that societal stigmas surrounding nudist camps still exist.
"People who have never been to any nudist parks feel like it's one big sex party, but it's not like that at all," Mitchell says.
"People associate nudity with sex, but that's not the case. It's a chosen lifestyle of relaxation and it works for most people."
But, she says, the negative stereotypes usually change when people actually open their minds and doff their clothes to give naturism a try.
"If they have a chance to experience it, most of them like it," Mitchell says.
"A lot of young people are not coming because they are worried what their parents will think, how they are going to appear to their friends, and they don't want anybody to judge them on it."
Christine says naturism is on solid ground.
"I can't see some of the kids that I have met all of a sudden converting back to a `textile' sort of life," she says. "So I am not worried about naturism dying out. I don't see how it could happen, because, for so many people it's just a way of life."

Going naked isn't as big as it used to be.
Over the past few decades, membership in major nudist organizations has been flat or declining, and operators of nudist cruises and beach resorts are worried about a dearth of young adherents to the clothes-free lifestyle.
While nudism experienced a flowering of popularity in the 1960s and 70s, many nudists are now graying, and boosters of the so-called naturist lifestyle are keen on bolstering their ranks.

The Wall Street Journal reports that nudist leaders are trying a number of fresh tactics to recruit young members.
Some nudist resorts offer free weekend stays to young people, and some have set up special areas accessible only to nudists under 30.
While that may sound familiar to people raised in the 60s, thanks to the popular slogan 'never trust anyone under 30', organizers say the purpose is to help young people feel comfortable taking off their clothes, so they don't feel like 'eye candy' in the presence of devotees the age of their grandparents.

A number of youth-focused nudist groups have recently been started, such as Florida Young Naturists and Vita Nuda.
Special events planned to attract young nudists include reverse-strip-poker nights, nude volleyball tournaments, naked road races and music festivals like Nudepalooza and Nudestock.
Restrictions will also likely be eased at nudist resorts, which previously prohibited body piercings and shut down pools at sunset.
In the past, some older nudists have complained that youngsters kept them up at night and behaved too rowdy, but it seems that the generations may have to come to more of an understanding, if the naturist culture is to continue into the future.

My boyfriend Steve and I stood, naked, hands on our hips and stared hopelessly at our hire car, its back wheels buried into about a foot-and-a-half of sand. No amount of angry revving or sweary reversing had succeeded in dislodging it. We were stuck. Luckily, at that moment, a naked French man appeared from around a corner and offered to help. The French man and Steve pushed, I put my foot down. A few minutes later we were free. We shook hands with our rescuer and he continued on his way, white bottom vanishing into the sunset. "I need a shower," said Steve. "Sand is everywhere."
We were at CHM Montalivet, the world’s oldest naturist resort, founded in 1953. Today, the resort is 175 hectares set in a pine forest and bordered by a huge section of white sand beach on the Atlantic coast. There are around 1000 private bungalows on site, some of them owned by families who live there permanently, others let out to tourists in the summer months. There is a corner shop, a boulangerie, a newsagent, a hardware store, a bicycle rental, several bars and restaurants, two swimming pools, a spa, an archery range, tennis courts, a cinema and a hairdresser. It’s a town, really. A naked town.
It’s worth pointing out that normally I’m the kind of woman who sunbathes in a one-piece swimsuit and would rather die than take part in naked yoga. I live in Shoreditch, where it’s fair to say appearances do count for something. I’d describe my body as almost exactly average. I’ve gained a bit of weight since quitting smoking and I care about this enough to occasionally order a salad, enough to join a gym. But nowhere near enough to do a juice cleanse, or hire a personal trainer. I don’t hate my body, but that doesn’t mean I want strangers to see it either. I am not a naturist, I suppose is what I’m saying. Or, at least, I wasn’t, until a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, after a four day stay at a naturist resort, I’m still not quite sure what the criteria are, really. For being a naturist, I mean.
Around the resort, friendly signs featuring a cartoon family romping naked through the woods ask visitors to “Respect our values”. But it wasn’t a case of 24/7 nudity. In the evening, you’d generally dress for dinner, an item of etiquette Steve learned the hard way on our first night, after walking through a crowded restaurant wearing a t-shirt but nothing else, meat-and-two-veg hanging free; roughly at eye level for the dozens of people seated, enjoying their wine and moules mariniere. This was, to be fair, the opposite (and therefore, I suppose, equal) faux pas to one I’d committed myself earlier that day. Carrying our towels and parasols down the walkway to the beach, a friendly resort rep had jogged after us. “Excuse me,” he said, gesturing at my shorts, “Please, is it possible?” He pointed to a very large sign that I’d somehow missed, in French it read; “Beach 100% naturist.” The shorts had to go.
You don’t check into a naturist resort without expecting to take your clothes off. At least, not unless you’re very stupid and/or exceptionally culturally insensitive. Although, as with most things in life, I’d taken a cross-each-bridge-as-I-come-to-it approach. As it turns out, when it comes to public nudity, cross one bridge and you’ve pretty well crossed them all. I took the shorts off and nobody looked, nobody pointed, nobody laughed. Obviously not. Everyone else was naked too. Within seconds the moment had passed and I was just one naked person on a beach with a lot of other naked people. It has nothing at all to do with what you look like. On a beach, being naked just makes good practical sense. No swimsuit for sand to get all caught up in, no tan lines to worry about. And once you’ve been naked on a beach, why not at a bar, or in a corner shop, or a swimming pool? We’re all just people. Various sizes and shapes and levels of hairiness and wrinkliness and tan, but, basically all the same.
The following day, with my boobs and bum slightly sunburnt, Steve and I were sitting at the beachside bar, drinking beer from plastic cups and talking to a lovely retired American couple, with syrupy Deep South accents. We all enthused about the flawless French weather, swapped tips on the best local places for dinner. We bitched about Brexit and Donald Trump. We spoke about our jobs back home, which felt very far away. The man had been a U.S. Army Colonel. By definition an intimidating character, but not here. They’d been coming to the resort, every year, for over 20 years. Being naked, I realised, doesn’t expose you at all – it makes you anonymous and equal. Flying home to headlines and TV reports filled with hatred and division, there’s something very comforting in having discovered a place where people are just people. Next summer, we’re going back.
