A bodybuilder whose entire body is covered in tattoos had to wrap his penis around a kitchen rolling to finish his private parts, including his testicles.
Ray Houghton, 61, can “proudly” claim to have at least one tattoo on every body part after undergoing the eye-watering four-hour of inking on his genitals.
He now boasts an impressive full body suit of ink which cost $9,500 and required more than 240 hours of tattooing.
Houghton, from Manchester, England has now completed a two-year journey to get his body covered in ink after enduring the four-hour sitting to have his penis and testicles tattooed.
Fitness fanatic, Houghton, who lives in Spain and owns his own gym, became hooked on tattoos after having eight “embarrassing” tattoos covered up.
He was reluctant to show off his impressive muscles thanks to tattoos he had done during his time in the army as a teenager.
But this bid to reclaim his confidence turned into an obsession and Houghton embarked on a mission to have his whole body tattooed to cover up his “aging” skin.
Houghton, who owns the Beach Body gym, in Alicante, Spain, says he now feels complete and “20 years younger” after having his private parts tattooed.
But it wasn’t without complications and Ray’s testicles swelled up to “four times” their normal size following the four-hour tattoo sitting.
He said: “I don’t feel the pain anymore but the tattooist couldn’t believe I wanted to get such a sensitive area done.”
Houghton, who lives in Spain with his fiance Pamela Hunt, 53, added: “There was quite a bit of blood and it was uncomfortable to walk the next day.”
“I was so desperate to get it done. I didn’t like to look in the mirror and see my aging skin. I like to look young.”
“I hated seeing varicose veins and wrinkles. It’s horrible.”
“We used a rolling pin because that was the easiest way for the tattoo to be done. You can’t just do it on a bench or worktop.”
“It was quite weird at first but it made a lot of sense. It worked out perfect really.”
Father-of-one Houghton had the procedure done on Christmas Eve in the comfort of his gym after searching for three months to find an artist willing to take on the work.
He now feels “complete” for the first time in his life — as well as decades younger — with the only part of his body without a tattoo being the top of his head.
His face, hands, feet and even his bum are covered in Maori-inspired designs.
Houghton joined the army in his youth and got tattoos on his arms and legs in a caravan near the base from a man called “Sailor Bill.”
But the eight inkings — including a boat, the words “mum” and “dad,” a naked woman and a Geisha — “weren’t spectacular.”
With the tattoos now covered up — and his whole body tattooed from head to toe — Houghton says he can’t wait to show off his body in all its glory at a local nudist beach.
He says he “feels like a celebrity” when he walks down the street in Spain, as people stop him to dish out compliments for the way he looks.
Houghton said: “I had age spots and scars that I was ashamed of. But now I am proud to go along to the nudist beach. People tell me they can’t believe how good I look for my age.”
“I feel like a celebrity and I love people staring at me.”
“I’ve been big all my life and as I got older people stopped telling me I looked good. But now I feel great again.”
“I did lose a lot of confidence and I began to feel like an old man. What people think of me is important to me.”
Houghton opened a gym and started competing in bodybuilding competitions and was crowned North West coast Champion in 1989.
But despite being the envy of his gym pals with his 54-inch chest, 18.5-inch bicep, and 34-inch waist, he wasn’t happy with his body because of his “ugly” tattoos.
Even after his older tattoos were covered up, he was still left unsatisfied by how his penis was just “bare skin” surrounded by ink.
He said: “Those old tattoos were done when I was 17. They were disgusting.”
“Now I’m proud to show my body off again and I can’t wait to show people my body in full. I love it.”
“None of the tattoos were really painful at all to have done, even this last one.”
“I have wanted my penis done for three months but my normal tattooist wouldn’t do it.”
“I wasn’t nervous, just excited to finally get it done.”
“I feel complete when I look in the mirror now. It was the perfect Christmas present really.”
Houghton was back to work as a personal trainer two days after getting the tattoos done.
Despite being sore at first, his private parts have now fully healed.

Tattoo artist Aleksandra is a walking canvas, and by her own estimation, has 99 percent of her skin covered in ink. "I basically have one tattoo, all combined," she says. "Everything is basically covered, except for one place."
In a new episode of the Truly webseries Hooked on the Look , Aleksandra finally gets the last tattoo that will complete her transformation. "It hurts so much every time," she says, "so that's one of the reasons I'm really excited for today, for getting the last spot done, so I don't have to do that any more."
Aleksandra's fascination with body art began when she was just nine years old, and she saw her parents getting tattoos. Now 30, she credits her mother Mari with teaching her to express herself and live without fear of other people's judgments.
"I decided to get my face tattooed when I was quite young, but I really didn't have the balls to do that," she says. It was only after she met her husband Roope, who is just as much a body art enthusiast as her, that she worked up the courage and they "boosted" each other to get face ink. "As a tattooed couple, I think most people think we're cool and badass... I don't consider us as anything more brave than any other person."
She adds that for the most part, her body art receives largely positive reactions from other people. "But there are also people who don't know how to behave." But while she jokingly describes herself as "addicted" to getting tattoos, she is happy with the way she looks.
"I feel more like me when my skin color is whatever I want it to be," she says. "I actually don't regret any of the tattoos I've got, because they're like phases of my life."
