KANSAS University cheerleaders were made to strip naked during a “humiliating” initiation ceremony.
New recruits were blindfolded, stuffed into a washing machine and cardboard boxes, before being ordered to strip in front of male squad members, it has been revealed.
One victim was so traumatised she left the university before finishing her studies, News.com.au reports.
The university launched an investigation into the incident following complaints by the victims that cheerleading coaches allowed the hazing to take place on a yearly basis.
As a result the whole squad have been put on a year-long probation.
Two team members, who wished to remain anonymous, said they were abused during an “initiation” event for six first-year members last July, while the team was on campus for a children’s summer camp.
The cheerleaders arrived at Kansas football’s Memorial Stadium in running shoes, per the team’s orders, and were told to sprint up and down a hill.
The older team members then blindfolded them, placed them in cars one by one and brought them inside an empty house, the two victims said.
One said she was forced inside of a washing machine, while the other said she was put in a cardboard box and jostled around as they banged on the sides.
They were then frogmarched into another room and asked a series of questions.
For each question they answered incorrectly, they were required to remove an article of clothing.
Eventually standing there naked, the six cheerleaders allegedly were taken into another room, while one of them said she remembered being separated from the group.
“I had taken my blindfold off along with another girl sitting next to me, and two alumni guys walked in and saw us naked,” she told student newspaper, The Kansas State Collegian.
Split into two groups, two of the cheerleaders said to have been taken downstairs and deemed “initiated,” while the others were subjected to public shaming.
“They took me and two other girls, put us in a room together and told us we are ugly, we don’t deserve to be on the team and our skills weren’t good enough,” one of the cheerleaders said.
“They sat us down with all the alumni and all returning cheerleaders.”
The incident has left the two cheerleaders emotionally traumatised, they said, leading one to leave the school permanently.
“The reason why I’m leaving KU is solely because the university and the athletic department decided to treat me and my other teammates like we didn’t matter and were instead just pretty faces for the media,” she said.
Kansas’ cheerleading team came under national controversy in November 2016 when a photo surfaced on Snapchat showing four team members, three male and one female, wearing matching Jayhawks sweaters emblazoned with “K” on the front, with the caption “Kkk go trump.”
The university temporarily suspended the cheerleaders from competition as a result.

Summit Entertainment is releasing Sorority Row in just a few short weeks, meaning that lots of newly initiated college freshmen will get the chance to see for themselves how silly movie depictions of college life are. Of course, Sorority Row seems deliberately sillier than others. The horror movie follows a group of sorority sisters (all of whom are sexy, naturally) as they are stalked by someone who knows their terrible secret: they accidentally helped kill their fellow sister. Typical college dilemma, really.
No one should go into this movie expecting anything but fun, slightly schlocky entertainment, and to prove the point, Summit has provided us with three new clips from the film, including the opening three minutes. While the two red-band clips feature two sisters and their gory death scenes, the green-band one is the most interesting, showing just how quickly the plot gets going. The credits have barely ended and the girls are already executing the scheme that gets them in all this trouble.
Check out all three, R-rated, adults only clips below once you're past the age-gate. Sorority Row comes out September 11.

Oh my goodness! It looks like some initial images from the “sexy sisters” remake, SORORITY ROW have clawed their way onto the ’net! Hot damn! This is one of my highly-anticipated horror flicks of ’09 and the pics up top and below have me excited (in several ways)!
Both images rock on a number of levels. I love the one up top of star Briana Evigan attempting to escape from both a fiery and watery grave. The set design, from what I can see of it, looks pretty tight in the pic below. And how can you not enjoy staring at Ms. Evigan strutting her stuff with two equally hot sisters at her sides. I’m telling you, my friends, watch for this one to make some noise come this October when it opens on the 2nd. Take a look at its detailed plot:
Sexy college juniors CASSIDY (Evigan) , JESSICA (Leah Pipes) , CLAIRE (Jamie Chung) , ELLIE (Rumer Willis) and MEGAN (Audrina Patridge) are sorority sisters sworn to trust, secrecy and solidarity, no matter what. But their loyalty is tested when a prank at a raucous house party goes terribly wrong and Megan ends up brutally murdered. Rather than confess to the crime and risk destroying their bright futures, the girls agree to hide the bloody corpse and keep their secret forever. Fast forward one year to graduation.
As they prepare to say goodbye to the house and each other, the girls plan one last alcohol-fueled bash on Sorority Row, confident their dark secret remains buried. But does it? As the party rages in the front yard, the bedrooms and the hot tub, the girls receive cell phone videos taken the night of Megan’s murder from an anonymous sender who threatens to forward the videos to the police. Then, one by one, the sisters and their unsuspecting boyfriends are stalked by an unseen killer. Has Megan returned from the dead to exact her revenge? Or was their secret discovered by someone else – someone now determined to make them pay?
