It's 2018—so at this point, you've definitely seen a pic of Kim Kardashian in the buff. But despite her literal "break the internet" fame, she's not the only celeb who's baring it all.
Others, from Emily Ratajkowski to Ashley Graham and Celine Dion, have starred in their own stunning nude photo shoots. Some of these women posed nude to make a statement about society's definition of beauty. Others did it for fun because nudity = no big effing deal, you know?
Here's why these 14 celebs chose to bare it all:
Being comfortable with her sexuality took time, Halle told Vogue in her 2010 cover interview. "I've been slowly getting there. If the world wouldn't persecute me, I'd take nude pictures every day of the week."
For Miley, nudity is part of her self-expression—and no one is going to shame her out of it. "I don't really stress too much about being out there. There's nothing left to catch me doing," she told Marie Claire in 2015. "You want to hack my e-mail so you can find my nude pictures? I'll just fucking put them up."
And: "Because I got my tits out before doesn’t make me less of a role model," she told Harper's Bazaar in 2017. "I think I show people that they can be themselves."
The singer Sia took a serious invasion of her privacy and gave it the middle finger. "Someone is apparently trying to sell naked photos of me to my fans. Save your money, here it is for free. Everyday is Christmas!’ she captioned her amazing photo. By sharing the picture of her backside with the world, she ensured that creeps couldn't make money off of it.
For some celebs, a nude photo is just about feeling confident. " I don't do things to be like, "This is powerful. I'm going to show you guys that this is my 'message,'" Kim told Harper's Bazaar in 2016. "I'm not that type of person. I'm empowered by it, but I'm not doing it specifically to show power."
Celine Dion casually used a Vogue Instagram takeover to show that age ain't a damn thing. Her fans responded in kind, holding her up as an example that age can never dictate beauty.
The "God Is A Woman" singer has been outspoken about the double standards men and women face in the media. "If you’re going to rave about how sexy a male artist looks with his shirt off, and a woman decides to get in her panties or show her boobies for a photo shoot, she needs to be treated with the same awe and admiration," she told Billboard in 2016. "I will say it until I’m an old-ass lady with my tits out at Whole Foods. I’ll be in the produce aisle, naked at 95, with a sensible ponytail, one strand of hair left on my head and a Chanel bow."
"Being told, 'You’re fat,' 'You’re ugly' or 'You’re just not good enough,' and trying to live in these model standards, that was my normal," Ashley Graham told Tracee Ellis Ross in an interview for V Magazine . "I think I hit bottom around 18. I was disgusted with myself and told my mom I was coming home. And she told me, 'No, you’re not, because you told me that this was what you wanted and I know you’re supposed to do this. It doesn’t matter what you think about your body, because your body is supposed to change somebody’s life.'"
"Certain women, no matter what, they get put into certain boxes more than men," Emily told Love Magazine last year. "That was my box to deal with. It says so much about how much we don't like women in culture that if they show their bodies, they're vulgar, basically. It's either completely sexualized or its vulgar and gross. It's so bizarre."
Ciara has shared her fair share of stunning budoir photos, including ones while rocking a baby bump. "Empowerment is about freedom of expression and it’s always amazing to see women being confident in their own skin," she told Love Magazine in December.
Nudity was a regular part of her HBO show Girls , and Lena didn't care if it made people uncomfortable. When asked during a press panel in 2014 why her character was naked so much on the show, Lena said nudity is "a realistic expression of what it’s like to be alive. But I totally get it. If you’re not into me, that’s your problem and you’re going to have to work that out with professionals."
“To me, nudity is not something to be ashamed of," Kourtney told DuJour magazine when she stripped down in a pregnancy photoshoot for the mag. "I’m not embarrassed of my body. I’m at my best when I’m pregnant. It’s such an amazing feeling, the transformation that your body goes through. There’s something about that that’s so empowering and beautiful and I just really embrace it."
The comedian explained her nude ambitions to Harper’s Bazaar : “I think nudity is funny, as long as you are doing something silly. I always try to make my pictures silly and funny. I am not lying on a bed trying to lure someone inside of me.”

Sometimes, nudity can be for a good cause. “Imma post this one more time for the haters,” Amber captioned her nude photo , which was taken to promote the Amber Rose SlutWalk (a festival focused on raising awareness about sexual injustice and gender inequality).
Sofia Vergara said she first balked at the idea of posing nude for the cover of Women's Health . But then she had a change of thought. "Here's a woman, 45, being able to show her body. It's not like before, when it was just young girls," she said.

Yesterday, millions of men and women freed their breasts all over the world. The parades took place from Missouri to Geneva to celebrate Go Topless Day- where people bare their breast in public to poke at the inequality in the law and to destigmatize boobs. It is a day of celebration and protest to reduce the shame around women's bodies, as discussed in Global Citizen .
The parades occur on the Sunday closest to Women’s Equality Day (Aug. 26 is the day women were given the right to vote in 1920 in the US). The movement began in 2007 and has grown into an empowering movement to protest laws that limit women's bodies. I am often left aghast at restrictions against breasts, such as rules on Facebook and Instagram that force women to cover or blur out their nipples. It is just a body part. Why should someone have to limit their body because someone else sexualizes it? How is that fair?
Even people that could not attend the parades showed their support through posting topless photos using #Nationaltoplessday and #Freethenipple .
