Meet Chris Baine, underachieving corporate drone, whose penchant for gambling has left him swimming in debt. Desperate for an escape, he'll do anything, even if it means losing all sense of decency. Yet to shed the skin of his old life he’ll have to dance with the devil in the form of a sadistic corporate lawyer. And to make matters worse, his cigar loving, lizard-skin-wearing bookie wants his money, or enough flesh to cover the balance due. Will Chris beat the odds to win a bet that promises a chance at living life on his own terms, or will a temping offer from the establishment lure him back to the grind?

Well, I got through the book, and from the get go knew this was not my cup of tea. It is somewhat interesting, but for the most part is something one would find as a short movie. The dialogue is not creatively interesting to me--and the story line is very direct and seems that there is not much development to plot or even the characters. The story is written about Chris, a guy who works in a corporation called Ansil. He gets up the ranks and actually holds one of the leadership positions in spite of taking risks and "gambling" and streaking. Chris has somewhat of a love life, as well as some of his other friends. The development of any romantic themes throughout this book is not developed in terms of relationships. (I am a pretty conservative reader and want more relationship development rather than sex scene dialogue and descriptions.) I did however think that the relationship between Anne and Jason could have been furthered--it did spark interest to me. And the relationship between Sarah and Chris (the main guy) ended far too abruptly. Maybe it was to show that it was in fact a shallow relationship, but yeah....glad she was happy in the end. Chris had his ideal woman too. Overall it just was not my cup of tea. Tiny bits of interesting parts, but was just not my favorite reads. I received a copy of the book to review. My opinions are my own and are my honest opinions of the book.

This book starts off with something any employee in a rough situation dreams of doing- without too many details it involves the laid off employee making a huge scene. Chris Baine witnesses the departure and it has opened up his desire to also leave the rat race- but a penchant for gambling makes unemployment financially impossible as well as probably detrimental to his health. So he makes a bargain with someone who agrees to pay all of his debt in repayment for some crazy activities. I was a bit amused by this book but found it improbable and I also couldn't relate with any of the characters. They seemed very superficial and with minimal character development.

People in today's society are creatures of habit. They like the security and comfort of a routine. Chris Baine was one of these people. He was stuck in a mundane job in the corporate world. He did just enough to get by and liked it that way. When Chris won a bet with a friend everything changed. He saw his life in a different light and enjoyed the euphoric feeling of acting spontaneous. The story follows Chris as he ventures outside of his normal activities. He discovers his life can be filled with unlimited possibilities if he will only let his guard down. The book was very entertaining and funny. I found myself rooting for Chris to succeed.

I am super sarcastic so this book was right up my alley. I have never worked in the corporate world per say but I have worked with groups of people and I can totally relate to this book. The book begins with a 300 lb naked man running through Chris's office in complete rebellion against "the man". I was hooked from there. LOL If you need a book that will just make you completely laugh out loud or a break from reality I highly suggest you grab this one to read. It's a total beach book for the summer. Happy reading. (I received this e-book free of charge for review purposes. It in no way influenced my review at all.)

Naked on a Treadmill is a humorous book about a man who has pretty much had his soul sucked out by the corporate world and decides he can take no more. Having become comfortable in the never surprising cubicle world Chris begins to slowly step out from behind the cubicle and quickly gets into gambling debt. Hilarious situations arise in his attempts to get out of his self-made debt which keep the book moving and entertaining. If you have ever watched shows based on what someone would do for money and enjoyed them...you will love this book. I found this book very funny and a light read.

This book is for adults. Baine gets picked to be lead at his job after another coworker got let go. He did enough to survive at work. He and some coworkers did socialize together outside of work. Baine's boss went away to see how he would handle his new responsibilities. He encourages him and tries to help him do well. Baine even had an office romance. The best thing that happened in this book is when Baine tells the board members that employees are unhappy and management needs to change the way they handle employees. At the end Baine gets a promotion to be in charge of his own department for saying what he believed in. You see the good and bad sides of friendships. The theme of this book is when life seems bad we just need encouragement to reach our full potential. Watch Baine grow as a person.

It has been awhile since I read such a comedic book, but this was one that I would recommend for an easy read. These days everyone is fighting for their place in the corporate rat race and such was the case for Chris. It shows what can or cannot happen when one decides to cut the strings and break out of the daily struggle. Finding himself with new challenges of debt from a gambling habit, he gets himself involved in a series of events where he must learn to keep afloat.

This is a humorous tale about corporate life, and what it takes to break free of the grind. Chris worked, gambled, and had a fairly average life until he decided to start stepping out of his comfort zone and doing some pretty crazy things. The story is funny, and the tone of the main character often sarcastic. It was a pretty good read, overall, and it made me laugh a lot.

Paul Lechner is a contemporary American author. "Naked on a Treadmill" is his first published novel which was inspired by his experiences in the corporate world, where he couldn't help but notice the clash between society's obsession with growth at all costs and people's inherent desire to have more meaning in their jobs beyond the quarterly numbers.
Born in the Midwest, Paul grew up dreaming of being a fighter pilot. He left home at 18 for a four year stint in the US Air Force before realizing his less than perfect eyes would relegate him to flying cargo planes. After earning a business degree, he spent the next 10 years spending long hours in the tech industry before writing his first novel.
