This has been a really great series by Sally MacKenzie which I believe ends with this book, The Naked King. They have been funny, lighthearted, and sometimes silly historical romances that are quick, fun reads. Lady Anne, at 27, is a spinster on the shelf. Even though she cannot stand London society she is braving the balls and teas so that her younger sister can have her coming out. While out walking her dog one morning she literally runs in to Stephan Parker-Roth, The King of Hearts. When they are shortly later caught in a compromising position by one of the town's gossips, Stephen does the proper things and extends an offer of marriage. Even though they've only known each other for a total of two hours at this point. As they try to navigate the tricky waters of London's upper society, they each try hard to hide their true feelings that are emerging while they get to know each other but Lady Anne has a secret that can tear apart their engagement, no matter how false it really is. This was an entertaining read; a great story of their emerging feelings for each other and how they fought it every step of the way. There are some reoccurring characters from earlier in the series so it may be beneficial to read other titles first, but in no way do they deter from this story is you're just starting with this book. I'm excited to see what comes next from Sally MacKenzie and I'm hoping I enjoy her next novels as much as I've enjoyed this series.

Lady Anne is daughter to the famous mad crane , she runs into the king of hearts whom decides her clothing and especially her hat was death to all eyes in England. While her dog Harry out then in a scandalous position he decides to lie and say they been betrothed for years. A restocking and a rogue very good irresistible read.

I can't quite put my finger on this one. I liked it but, I didn't love it. I thought it was at times, very intriguing and yet a times extremely disturbing. There was no one thing I could put my finger on and say this is why I absolutely LOVE OR HATE this story. The characters are for the most part charmingly nice people and at the same time totally disfunctional ecsentrics. In a love story I find the combination to be unsettling at the very least. I disliked that the herionine was RAPED and that it was never brought to light and until well into this story. It is hinted at more than once thoroughout the story and makes for an uncomfortable side plot. The only good thing is in the end he is given his just desserts, quite finally. I like it, for the most part, and therefore I would recommend it. Just be aware it is not really like the other Naked ones of the Series.

Well written, well edited, well ebooked.

Sally MacKenzie has a. gift for character development. Both hero and heroine have instinctive kindness, a sense of honor and the humor that the writer gives to her story makes it a pleasure to read. I especially enjoyed the direct and honest approach given to resolving conflict. I have little patience for plots that continually deal with misunderstandings and deceit.

Another cute novel by Sally Mackenzie!

I enjoyed reading The Naked King. It had like able characters and of course Villians. The engagement happen a little to quick for my liking. I would have preferred for them to get to know each other first. All in all wonderful romance

Plot and pacing are okay for a nice quick read.

3 Re-Readable Stars (Some Spoliers)

Lady Anne Marston, having just arrived in London with her siblings, finds herself in what appears to be a compromising position with Stephen Parker-Roth, all would be well if not for the fact the Ton’s biggest gossip spots the, leading Stephen to do the honourable thing and assert he is engaged to Anna, that theirs is a longstanding love match (never mind they’ve never met each other before). Lady Anne has always been seen as the smart one/a bluestocking, and her younger sister the beauty in the family, and so whilst she reluctantly agrees to the pretend engagement, to prevent any scandal from ruining her sister’s first season, she refuses to believe Stephen (known by the Ton/gossip rags as the King of Hearts) truly wants her, thus she never takes his declarations of attraction and that the engagement will lead to marriage seriously. The first 20% or so of this I wasn’t overly fond of, and I was thinking of quitting the book, but overall, I’m glad I persevered, there were some very amusing/humorous components to this book. Some of the byplay between the two main characters was very entertaining and had me engaged, particularly in the later half of the book. I very much liked the fact Stephan didn’t turn into a despot of a HR hero, when he realised Anne was not a virgin, and had been raped when she was younger. The fact he is also quick to emphasis that it wasn’t her fault, further endeared him to me. I would have liked if the ending had been teased out a bit more, and things wrapped up more than they were, but still this turned out o be a better read than I thought it would be. Triggers: Rape is mentioned, a kidnapping does occur, and a rape is attempted on page. 99p on Amazon 12th June 2019.

I have loved reading these naked people stories, funny scarey a little bit and sexy ,love triumphs in the end too really enjoyable can heartily recommend these books.

Read this in two sittings, so much fun and adventure. Superb hero and heroine and lovely side characters, the villain was also larger than life. Everything I enjoy in a book.

Interesting reading

The author's title, The Naked King gives the flavour of the book. In a time before cell phones the urgent need to communicate situations is not as easy. The characters are well written and the sensual scenes are well written.

I read all the other one, it's a good book but really previsible and some sentences are always repeated in every book, like a copy-glue, but still I like the cute love story! :)

A marriage-resistant intellectual tries to escape a sham engagement with a rogue in this delightful Regency romance by the author of The Naked Gentleman .
Indiscretion Is Just the Beginning . . .
One night of slight overindulgence—oh, all right, he was drunk—and Stephen Parker-Roth finds he must betroth himself to prevent yet another scandal. But his “intended” is lovely, a redheaded beauty under her horrendous, unfashionable bonnet, and before long, he’s congratulating himself on compromising such an excellent candidate—and anticipating what other naughtiness they’ll get caught at before the wedding . . .
Lady Anne Marston has long since given up any thought of marriage. That is the price she pays for the mistakes of her past. But one little conversation with a handsome rogue should never have led to a sham engagement. Even if it did end in a rather shocking kiss…in broad daylight…on the front step of London’s premier gossip. Now, trapped between a secret and a lie, Anne must somehow disentangle herself from this charming, maddening man before the truth comes out—or her heart gives in . . .
