The rear naked choke is a crucial attack, it involves the term ‘rear’ because it is applied from behind of the opponent and the word naked comes from the fact that unlike other techniques it does not include a training uniform or an object to apply it. If it is executed correctly, it is the ending point in a fight.
This choke is also referred to as the “King of all chokes”. Many of the UFC submission triumphs have been rear naked chokes . This hold is one of the best submissive holds in the jiu-jitsu arsenal due to the positions that it can be applied. For an instance, suppose that the rear chokehold has been applied on an opponent, at that very moment, the opponent has no position or moves to attack. Only in the extremely rare case is it possible to break the lock after a couple of hard fought tries. However, it gets even harder on an experienced grappler.
The rear naked choke has been around since the early years of Jiu-Jitsu. The Hadaka jime translates for ‘naked choke’ as to explain this choke does not require the use of GI-kimono. The popularity of the rear naked choke in MMA and Jiu-Jitsu is attributed to the Gracie family , who popularized the choke in no holds barred fights. The association between the choke and the lion killing capabilities can be dated back to as far as the early 1500’s. It seems as though the name was mata-leao only started being used in Jiu-Jitsu and vale-to-do in 1960’s decades.
This variant is also considered as the blood choke because it stops the blood flow to the brain through the carotid arteries. When executed correctly it can cause unconsciousness in a few seconds. The following is the description to perform it perfectly:
A variation that involves clasping of the hands, this is also known by “Palm to Palm”. It allows more pressure to be applied to the neck. It modifies the original move but the idea is to put pressure on airway and stop opponents breathing.
This choke is done from back control and leg placement has two variations, standard back control with hooks or body lock. The body lock is executed by placing one of your legs on the opponent’s chest. Then place the leg on his own shin creating a figure four with legs. This allows you to limit opponent’s movement and stay close to him.
The rear choke hold effectively trips the jugular vein, the greatly stops the flow of blood from the head or brain to the heart. This causes unconsciousness sooner and the opponent begins to fade.
When pressure is applied to the opponent’s neck, the heart will gradually reduce the heartbeat speed which will cause lesser blood flow from the heart. This choke could lead to a malfunction of the flowing of the blood towards the heart that may or may not be fixed ever. The time of the pressure is proportional to the damage of cerebral anoxia, which means cutting off the oxygen supply to the brain.
The more the pressure applied, the lesser the oxygen supplied to the brain. Significant anatomic differences exist between the healthy participants of these studies and children, the elderly and those with Down syndrome, differences that dramatically after the safety of the choke. I could have been a good book, but all-in-all, it fell far short. First, about the characters: I completely agree with other reviewers who have said the leading lady, Cat, was completely unlikable. At one point the author uses adjectives such as smart, caring, strong to describe Cat, but they just don't translate to the character. Cat doesn't have any redeeming qualities. I would describe her as a spineless, indecisive slut. Now for the brothers...Austen...his dad's golden boy and prospective MMA competitor. He's a bit of a man-whore, but he's trying to get away from meaningless hook-ups and have a real relationship. He can't quite pull it off, but he still comes across as at least likeable. Then there's Logan. Now there's a character you can sink your teeth into. He's considered the lesser brother by his dad and under-rated as far as being a contender in MMA. In reality, he's the good guy. He's loyal, honest, focused, strong, and hot. He's really too good for Cat, but he finds his HEA in the end. Now for the plot: The plot between the bed scenes is a little underdeveloped, thus lending to the underdeveloped characters. I did enjoy the descriptions of the gym and training. The rest of the plot is a mix of the movies "Warrior" (where two estranged brothers end up facing off in a MMA competition) and "Rocky" (yo...ADRIAN!!!). The overdone plot is rushed and lacks originality. I love books about MMA, but wouldn't recommend this one as a good read. Sorry.
I really liked this book. The best character in this story is obviously Logan. I pictured Logan as Hugh Jackman. Hehe!! I really didn't like Austen. Since the beginning he pretty much seems selfish, can't handle any pressure and listens to whatever his dad says. Cat was kind of the same. But she gradually changed by the end of the book. I know some may say she's slutty or indecisive but I can understand her. Especially when you never could make your own choices in life and are always appeasing others. I hope that Celia writes the follow up book according to Logan's POV. I think it would be much better from his standpoint. Plus I wanted to know more about him and Cat at the end of book. And does the dad finally supports his other son? He was a real you know what. And maybe book 3 would be from Austen's POV. I'd like to know why he cheated. But throughout the book, it did seem like he wasn't going to be faithful. Even Cat had doubts earlier on. Maybe he ends up with Sara. She seemed really nice. But she would need to keep Austen in his place and on lockdown. Lol!
Not one but two MMA brothers with their eye on their new almost stepsister. The story feels taboo without actually crossing strict social lines—their parents aren’t married, just dating. It’s a messy but accurate look at what relationships are like at that age, especially with young women who don’t have a backbone yet. Cat’s relationship with her mother is also realistic. Her mom isn’t evil, just a little manipulative. She means well. This is an exciting book that goes in unexpected directions. I was given a copy of the book to review but I had already bought it. It was worth it. The end felt a little abrupt.
I'm at a lost here. The love triangle made Cat look like a slut. Yes I knew about the love triangle but I had no way of knowing how the author was going to do it. So basically I had to read it. And nope or more like hell no its was done where she literally moves from one bed to another. Maybe if it was done with some months/years in between the brothers I could take it. Or hell maybe if she would had never been with the other one sexually then that would have been better. Bottom line is I really did like Cat her friend Maya was a better character. So much of the book was spent on the wrong relationship by the time we get to the one she wanted the book is almost over. I feel cheated I wanted to experience their love for each other and then get to the end. Does Cat ever pick a major? Does the relationship get anymore ups and downs? I'm guessing this will be the only book about Cat and her boyfriend so I should probably let my questions go.
While I usually don't like stories of boxing or what ever they were doing, I enjoyed this one. For me, what held my interest was the story of two brothers. It was not any thing new. The usual story of Dad and his two boys, one favored, the other ignored. And the girl, throw in some ...no, lots of sex, and you have an easy read. Nothing new but ok light reading.
I loved this book. Cat's got introduced to her mom's boyfriends sons at her eighteen birthday party. She instantly had an attraction to both sons. At first though she started spending time with Austen, but as a friend she was closer to Logan. She didn't know Logan was secretly in love with her and at first he didn't know about her relationship with Austen. This is a love triangle, but it does have a happy ending. I highly recommend this book to all fans of Celia Loren and to anyone who likes a good romance story.
Cat is a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to getting what she want and what she needs. Austen always gets what he wants, but he's a late bloomer in getting what he needs. Logan is not a late bloomer- he knows what he wants and works hard to get it. When he learns what he needs he goes for it. Great storyline, nice sex scenes and an HEA you have to be patient for. Worth the ride!
Two brothers one step sister and both of them want her. She wants both of them. Who will she pick. I liked the book and it was very hot and steamy.

Smoking HOT MMA brother battle for her heart.......
I seem to be gravitating back to my obsession with Stepbrother romances at the moment....Have you noticed ?. Okay, enough of the reflection. I REALLY got into this story line, maybe it was because Celia had gifted my dirty mind with not one but two hunks of Stepbrother for our leading beau to choose from. Decisions, decisions..... This is Cat, Logan and Austen's story. Cat as a lead in my opinion was quite the submissive and just wanted to please those who she cared about in her life, sometimes at the expense of her own dreams. Logan and Austen.....two words.....Chalk and Cheese.....very different but BOTH equally appealing and yes sir re they both set there sights on Cat. Although, one a little faster paced than the other. The pace of the story flowed well, angst and "OMG they didn't" parts believable and HOT romance. The fact our two hero leads are MMA fighters....God damn HUGE bonus for me !!! All through the story my mind was working overtime thinking who would Cat choose ?....I was routing for my own brother and nope lips zipped on that one. You need to read and decide yourself who you think deserves Cat in the end. Would I recommend ?...absolutely.

Great if your looking for a fast paced book.
This book was really good and loved the storyline, I felt like it could of gone a lot deeper than it did but still enjoyed it none the less. It's quite a fast paced book and read it in a few hours, 2 MMA fighter brothers, swooon. I want me some Logan. Wish it had a few more chapters to finish it off but but still happy with Cats choice, worth a read.
It's an ok book not the best I've read & not the worst! Easy to read but felt that it lacked depth in places & was rushed in others! Would've liked more interaction between Cat & Logan Overall it's a pool side read that doesn't require a lot of concentration ideal for a summer holiday read

Short Changed!
The characters Austen and Logan were great in this book, but the story needed a little more to it. Everything happened too quickly, it was too, wham bam thank you ma'am! I personally would have liked a stronger storyline with a few more challenges along the way. The best part of the book is definitely the fight at the end. Shame the story wasn't stronger, I would have given it 5 stars if it had been.
