The pictures displayed in the Loser's Bar include: the Hindenburg, the R.M.S. Lusitania sinking, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the Ford Edsel, the DeLorean DMC-12, the Hubble Space Telescope (considered a failure at the time), Neville Chamberlain , and Michael Dukakis .
In the opening scene, Captain Brumford mentions that Frank's rank is Lieutenant. When Frank begins his opening narration, he mentions his rank as Sergeant. This is not an error but a running joke in the series that comes from the original Police Squad! TV show, where Drebin would be referred to as several different ranks through an episode of even in the same sentence. Frank's full, official title is "Sergeant Frank Drebin, Detective Lieutenant Police Squad", which is a fictional amalgamation of three different ranks of police officer.
On the TV version, many scenes are added:
There is a continuation of the scene in which Frank accidentally bumps into the cement truck and the truck starts dumping it's contents in another car. After Frank tells Ed "No not right now, we've got work to do", we see a new scene of Frank, Ed, and Nordberg walking out of the station and passing the Mayor looking sadly at her now hardened cement covered car along with a construction worker trying to break it off with a jackhammer. Right after Frank says "Just keep him (Hector Savage) busy" and shuts the lid of the tank he's driving, he starts looking at the controls trying to decide which ones to use and which ones not to use. Then he spots an actual key which he starts turning and the tank starts idling. When Frank goes to Jane's apartment with the flowers(which are now stems), they change the scene completely at this point. Frank starts walking around her place and commenting on how nice it is. He soon enters a room with a window open and a lot of wind starts coming in. It is established that Jane lives near a railway station. At one point a mailbag flies in the room into Frank's arms. Right after that, Jane then says "I'm making a Protein Shake". When Frank, Jane and Dr. Meinheimer are in the building that blew up at the beginning, and they walk through the research area where he drops his hat, the scene ends in the movie version with Jane walking away with the Quentin Hapsburg, and Frank standing there. In the TV version, green ooze explodes from the machine, Jane asks where Frank's hat is, and then Frank runs out while the green ooze pours out the door. As he runs out he notices a sign telling how long the research area went without problems. In the bar scene, Ed and Frank discuss the various girls Frank went out with while trying to forget about Jane. When Frank falls through the glass and is captured by the pollution group, Quentin goes through a detailed explanation of how he'll be torturing Frank before killing him. At the scene at the dinner at the end, when Nordberg plays the guitar and the old lady tosses him the keys, there is a scene with him walking off and tossing the keys to President Bush. At the beginning at the presidential dinner before the lobster scene, there are 2 scenes added. One involves Frank yanking a Cuban cigar out of the Cuban ambassador's mouth and yelling at him about supporting Cubans, and another involves him mistaking Winnie Mandela for being in the groups Martha & The Vandellas and The Chiffons. There are added scenes in the sex scene between Frank and Jane (like a gas pump put into a car's gas entrance). Before Frank goes to the mansion for dinner, there is an added scene before he arrives and greets the mayor (how many animals escaped...?). Quentin hands a huge check to a thug played by producer Robert K. Weiss, and then cashes it for him right there. When Hector Savage says "I want a car out front! Something fun! A Porsche!". Instead of immediately saying "I want a ticket to Jamaica", Ed speaks up on the megaphone and says "Can't do that Savage!" and throws out different types of cars they could give him. When Frank gets the tank moving he drives directly up to Savage's front door. Instead of immediately knocking the door down, a mechanical hand pops out of the ram and simply pushes the doorbell! When Frank gets beat up by the football players, there is a new scene of Ed and Nordberg in their regular outfits along with Dr. Meinheimer, coming to his aid saying "Hey! We're police officers! Hold it!". Frank is still dazed. Ed says "Hang on, I'll get you some water!" Meanwhile Meinheimer's just staring at Frank to see if he's OK. Frank starts to see a blurry image of Meinheimer and thinks it's Earl Hacker(the fake Dr.) and starts beating up on him again. The football guys come back, see this, and start beating up Frank again(also if you listen closely they've incorporated the previous sound footage "Hey! Let's get him! Beat up an old guy will ya!" for the new scene). Ed comes back with a glass of water which he hands to Frank. He tells him to look out for Quentin and heads for the stage with Dr. Meinheimer. Frank then takes the glass to his lips and winds up fainting in the process. Thus explains how the next time we see Frank, he's holding an empty cup with money. He spilled the water when he fainted. Frank steals Quentin's gun away while in the "bomb room" but is then tricked by Quentin to "LOOK!", who then retrieves it. Frank and Jane trying to disarm the bomb has more dialogue. Jane, instead of flipping in the manual right to "How to disarm bomb" she starts out with introductions "So You've decided to buy a bomb...." and other captions with Frank telling her they don't have much time to do this.

Hilarious sequel to 'The Naked Gun: From The Files of Police Squad' **** out of *****
The Naked Gun: From the files of Police Squad was a huge hit back in 1988, so three years later, everyone returns for this funny sequel. LT. Frank Drebin is back (The legend that is Leslie Nielsen) he's now split from Girlfriend Jane (Pricilla Presley) whose now involved romantically with shady Businessman Quentin Hapsburg (Robert Goulet). Drebin and his cop buddies, Capt Ed Hocken (George Kennedy) & Det. Norberg (O.J.Simpson) investigate when a Scientist Dr Meinheimer (Richard Griffiths) who advocates Solar Energy ahead of Oil,Coal & Nuclear prepares to publish his report to the President, Is suddenly kidnapped and a doppelganger (Griffiths Again) is put in his place. So LT Drebin once again hilariously saves the day. The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear, while does have a quick cash-in feel, is actually a really good sequel which is almost as good as the original, With funny Gags throughout, The Zucker Brothers and Pat Proft are on top form again. **** out of ***** Follwed by The Naked Gun 33 1/3 : The Final Insult, while still good and a masterpiece compared to Diasater Movie (2008) or Epic Movie (2007) is slightly inferior to it's predecessors

COMPARISON: Urban Decay Naked 2 BASICS vs. Naked BASICS (original)

9:00 AM

'Ello, ello! As I mentioned in my Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Review , it's becoming increasingly necessary to do this type of side-by-side comparison post as the "naked" palette eyeshadow phenomenon keeps growing. There are so many subtle variations to each palette! How to we know what will work best on us? How do we know we won't have dupes?

Well, my ladydollsandpossiblymen, that's what I'm here for. Bring on the neutral synonyms!

Here we have the new Naked 2 Basics Palette on the left and the original Naked Basics on the right, both offered for $29 each.

In the same vein as the full-sized Naked 2, Naked 2 Basics is a cooler, taupe-based palette compared to the Naked Basics. Both palettes are the same size and contain 5 matte shades and 1 highlight shade in a satin finish.

You can see in this side-by-side that Naked 2 Basics also falls within the more medium-toned range compared to Basics which has an almost-white highlight and an almost-black darkest shade.

As a small recap, Naked 2 Basics is a taupe-based matte palette with 6 cooler taupe and rosy-brown shades. Because the steps of intensity between each shade are more subtle, this would be a great for someone who loves a consistent neutral look day to day.

The original Naked Basics actually runs on the cooler side as well but has more yellow-tones and comes with a much more vibrant satin color, Venus, while the rest of the palette is matte. There is a bit more variation here than Naked 2 because Venus is so light and Crave is so dark.

I went ahead and re-shot photos of the Basics palette so that I could match settings and lighting as closely as possible.

Skimp | Stark | Frisk | Cover | Primal | Undone

Naked Basics Palette
Venus | Foxy | Walk of Shame | Naked 2 | Faint | Crave

If you were looking quickly you might think that the second photo was just me turning up the contrast in photoshop but you'd be wrong! Here you can really see the subtleties between each color in Naked 2 Basics . Unfortunately for me, my medium skintone doesn't show off the first half of the palette at all.

Naked Basics also has a similar problem since the middle 3 colors seem to fade into my skin. Naked 2 the shadow (and Frisk from Naked 2 Basics which is similar) can be used as a nice blending shade, but Foxy and Walk of Shame don't add much unless I want duplicate, subtle highlight colors.

The saving grace of Naked Basics is that Venus, Naked 2, Faint, and Crave (1, 4, 5, and 6) can create a beautiful and complete eyeshadow look. I could use the comparable shades from Naked 2 Basics but it would be a much softer version.

Overall, I would recommend Naked 2 Basics for girls with cooler skintones that are paler than my golden medium shade. It could definitely also work for girls who just love taupes and enjoy an easy-to-get-right, natural look everyday.

The original Naked Basics will work for a wider variety of skintones although it does have a couple of lighter shades that would work best on skintones lighter or darker than mine. It's still one of my favorite workhorse palettes though and a great travel companion since it can range from subtle to dramatic smoky looks without taking up much space.

For more in-depth information, you can check out my full reviews of the Naked Basics Palette and Naked 2 Basics Palette .

Readers, does your gut pull you more toward Naked 2 Basics or the original Naked Basics palette? Do you go more for a consistent everyday look or do you like variety? Let me know in the comments what you prefer and why!

Wow, thanks for the comparison swatches! I have always contemplated getting the Naked Basics (original) palette but felt that some shades would be too light. I kind of wish I could pick and choose different colors for both and create my 'ideal' basics palette, haha. I can't even say I like one better than the other at this point either.. I guess it just means more time playing at the store swatching these myself! haha Thanks again! Great post. www.kfclovesyou.com
I COMPLETELY agree! I wish I could take 3 middle shades from naked 2 and put them in the original instead of the ones that disappear on me. Half and half, haha!
They're both such stunning palettes, thanks for this post! I may buy the second palette! (: - Nicole ( justabitofnicole.blogspot.com )
Hi Jen! Slightly unrelated, but I was wondering if you have ever tried the Coastal Scents Revealed (I & II) palettes. They are essentially less expensive versions of the Naked palettes. Or, have you tried any Coastal Scents eyeshadows? I'm curious about their formula (pigmentation, color payoff, blending, etc) Thanks!! Love your blog and videos BTW.
I haven't tried the coastal scents ones but I'm actually currently in love with my LORAC Skinny Palette. It's also a smaller neutral palette but it contains warmer tones and it's only $15!
I would definitely prefer the Naked 2 basics over the first one.. somehow the later is very ashy on me so I didnt get around buying it! Thanks so much for the comparison Jen! TheConscienceFund
You're welcome! If you found Naked Basics ashy you'll definitely love the rosy tones in Naked 2 Basics. :)
Hmmm I have basically hit pan on the original Basics palette. It's one of my favorite go-to neutral palettes. In fact I used it more than the larger Naked 1 and 2 palettes. It might be nice to have a softer coordinating palette in the same vein if I hadn't already found the Cargo Vintage Luggage palette last year. I used that and the regular Basics interchangeably and it has a few more colors to offer as well. Thanks to your review now I know I don't absolutely NEED the newer edition :) Your photos and editing are really fabulous!
Oh thank you so much! I do think Naked 2 Basics works well as a coordinating palette as you said. Maybe if you hit pan on your Cargo one. ;)
Really needed this Jen! Thank you! I have the first Naked basics but do enjoy the stronger ashy tones! LIVE . IN . LOVE ✞ ~
I was waiting for this yesterday! Your swatches and photos are always the best Jen! Thanks for the comparison <3 BonnieBeautyxo ♡ www.bonniebeautyxo.com

thanks for the helpful photos!! both palettes looks so pretty, and as much as i thought i'd love the taupes, the naked basics sounds more up my alley x Natalie / Salt & Sail
Hey, I really really like your Blog! You have interesting Stuff on it. Maybe you want to follow each other via GFC? If yes please tell me that you followed me and i follow you back, beauty :). Greetings and Kisses from Germany www.sophias-fashion.blogspot.com
This is a really great post. It's great to see comparison shots. xo Ashley
Thank you for the swatches and review! I wasn't particularly excited about the Naked Basics 2 and this just affirmed that! I definitely need to get my hands on the 1st one though! http://catpacking.blogspot.com
I want to try the 2 since my skin gets really pale in the winter! https://marjorievie.blogspot.com
I like the naked 2 basics because I like the more subtle neutral look. Its my everyday go to palette.
Thanks for your excellent reviews and tutorials for a make-up dummy like me! You make applying eye makeup look so easy (however when I try it, it never turns out as nice as what you demonstrate). Could you post a video tutorial on doing the "complete eyeshadow look" with the Naked Basics that you refer to in your review? Thanks again!
Hi Jen! I love this comparison of yours between these 2 palettes. I've also tried the naked basics palette but apparently it doesn't look really nice on my skin tone, I'm not sure if it's because my skin just don't go well with matte colours or is it that the palette doesn't suit me or something else. I wonder if I should get the naked basics 2 because the colours really look beautiful but I'm hesitant. Can you give me some advice? Thank You! =)
I'd love to have the second palette, but I love Venus and Crave. And Foxy matches my skin color perfectly so it's awesome for no makeup looks. The second palette doesn't have a dark enough shade to work as an eyeliner.
