Nace Pipe

Nace Pipe

NACE Pipe is designed for demanding sour oil and gas applications where materials are exposed to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and other corrosive conditions. Manufactured with controlled chemical composition, appropriate heat treatment and specified hardness requirements, NACE Pipe is engineered to help reduce the risk of sulfide stress cracking, hydrogen-related damage and corrosion in critical piping systems. Materials used for NACE service are selected and processed according to applicable sour-service requirements to support reliable mechanical performance and long-term integrity.

NACE MR0175 Pipe requirements place particular attention on material condition, hardness and metallurgical properties because excessive hardness or unsuitable microstructures can increase susceptibility to sulfide stress cracking in H₂S-containing environments. For many carbon and low-alloy steel applications, hardness limits such as 22 HRC may apply depending on the material grade and service conditions. Proper heat treatment and manufacturing controls help achieve the required material properties while maintaining strength and durability.

NACE Pipe is commonly used in oil and gas production, gathering systems, flowlines, processing facilities, wellhead equipment and other piping applications where sour service conditions are present. It can be supplied in different sizes, wall thicknesses and material grades according to project specifications and applicable standards. Chemical analysis, mechanical testing, hardness testing and other inspection procedures may be performed to verify compliance with specified requirements.

With its controlled metallurgy and sour-service characteristics, NACE MR0175 Pipe provides a dependable piping solution for environments where H₂S exposure can create significant corrosion and cracking risks. Proper material selection, manufacturing, inspection and installation are essential for achieving the expected performance of NACE-compliant piping in demanding oil and gas operations.
