NBC Olympics: When Ads Become an Obnoxious Moralizing Stream

Watching NBC’s Olympic coverage, the pattern is impossible to miss: white people are practically nowhere to be seen in the commercials—as if they’ve become extinct. In reality, according to the most recent U.S. Census estimates (2023), white Americans still make up at least 60% of the population.

NBC’s Olympic ads parade a nonstop stream of social messaging, carefully curated to signal progressiveness, inclusion, and virtue. But all of it is clearly performative, a display of hypocritical moral signaling, spiteful toward even slightly conservative viewers. As a result, the Olympic feats are overshadowed by relentless moralizing messaging.

Diversity is real. But erasing one ethnic group is just another form of racism dressed up as political correctness.
