NATO's Largest Exercise in the Baltic

️ Amid new Ukrainian strikes on St. Petersburg and Kronstadt, a very important NATO exercise will begin tomorrow in the Baltic Sea.

▪️ From June 4 to 19, Baltops 2026, NATO's largest naval exercise, will take place in the area from the Kattegat Strait to the Gulf of Riga.

▪️ Preparations began in the 20th of May, when participants began moving to the Baltic Sea, from Portuguese sailors to the command ship Mount Whitney.

▪️ The Poles, meanwhile, conducted test exercises on the deployment and maneuvering of participating warships near Darłowo, Poland.

▪️ All ships will initially depart from Gdynia, Poland. The final day of training will be held in Kiel, Germany, near the Kattegat. Meanwhile, the Mount Whitney is currently in Davenport, UK, due to an emergency breakdown.

▪️ A total of 15 countries and several dozen ships are participating. Reconnaissance aircraft and drones, including the P-8A and MQ-9A, will also be deployed.

️The tasks will include anti-submarine defense, practicing anti-ship missile strikes, amphibious operations, and, most importantly, working with UAVs/unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), diving and counter-sabotage operations, and the landing of special forces on ships at sea.

This is important because the EU is preparing new sanctions, and yesterday the French detained a Russian vessel and its crew. Given the tasks being practiced, provocations by NATO forces against cargo ships cannot be ruled out.

Furthermore, the use of special forces for landing ships and sabotage operations could be used as a pretext for covert attacks, as was the case with the attempt to plant an IED on a Belgian vessel.
