Arjun Singh (Congress politician)Arjun Singh (5 November 1930 – 4 March 2011) was an Indian politician from the Indian National Congress, who served twice as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in the 1980s. He also served twice as the Union Minister of Human Resource Development, in the Manmohan Singh and P. V. Narasimha Rao ministries. The surrender of dacoit Phoolan Devi in 1983 was a significant event during his tenure as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, reflecting efforts by his government to restore law and order, particularly in the Chambal region, while also dealing with the underlying socio-economic issues. He is widely remembered for introducing 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes in educational institutions including All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), with the passage of Ninety-third Constitutional Amendment and Central Educational Institutions(CEIs) (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006. This led to anti-reservation protests against this act. The protests ended after Supreme Court of India upheld the reservations in higher education.

He was first elected to 9th Lok Sabha in 1989 and again re-elected to 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 (2nd term), 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 (3rd term) from Balaghat, 16th Lok Sabha in 2014 (4th term) and 17th Lok Sabha in 2019 (5th term) from Damoh. He was born in Narsinghpur and is an advocate by profession. He is a graduate of the Government Science College, Jabalpur.

He is the current Member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Gadarwara. He won the 2014 and 2019 elections for Member of Parliament as a member of the BJP. He won 2019 Lok Sabha Polls from Narmadapuram Lok Sabha constituency with the record margin of 5,53,682 votes. Uday Pratap Singh then contested 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election from Gadarwara Legislative constituency which he won by more than 56 thousand votes defeating sitting MLA Mrs Sunita Patel.
Laxmi Narayan YadavLaxmi Narayan Yadav (Hindi pronunciation: [ləkʂmiː n̪aːɾaːjəɳ jaːd̪əʋ]) is a socialist leader and former member of parliament (MP) of Bhartiya Janata Party. He has won the 2014 Indian general elections from the Sagar (Lok Sabha constituency). He is two times MLA from Surkhi (Vidhan Sabha constituency) assembly seat of Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh. First time, he was elected in 1977 from Surkhi (Vidhan Sabha constituency) from Janata Party. He has defeated Vitthalbhai Patel who was a Congress leader and Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate famed Bollywood lyricist and poet and industrialist. During the same tenure in 1978 – 1980 he served as Minister for Higher Education, in Government of Madhya Pradesh in the Sakhlecha ministry. Mr. Virendra Kumar Sakhlecha was the then chief minister. Second time, in 1989, Mr. Yadav again defeated Patel from the same constituency.
