My template doesn’t support Reuters’ Investigations — and feels great!
EaxonWe should not support publications in the “Investigates” section, in my opinion.
Check this one for example: https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-lead-newyork/
It has an unsupported map and the only reliable way to mark it unsupported is by its ID. The ID is “interactive-lead-newyork-map-space” which correlates with the article’s topic and path (…/usa-lead-newyork/), so we can make the assumption that this element was disigned specifically for this article.
One more wonderful publication: https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/ocean-shock-norway/
It has a standard markup but 90% percents of the content is loaded by JS — and again we must know an ID to prevent IV from displaying an incomplete result. The ID is “article-silicon-fjord” which, unfortunately, does not refer to any popular JS library.
One day they will publish another article containing an essential unsupported element that our templates aren’t able to catch…
I’ve tried to handle it today though, but I had to give support to new elements every second article I opened (slideshows, unsupported cover videos, paragraphs-that-must-be-headers, YouTube and SoundCloud embeds whose sources are put in scripts, etc.), therefore, in order to be completely sure that all (already published) articles are handled correctly, one needs to review them all. I hardly can do it.
Anyway, I’m awaiting the admin’s decision.
