...Really Know How Parents and Teenagers Co-exist? Well I know anyone can relate to having an argument or two with their parents over the course of time but does understand how that the adolescent stage of a person’s life is this most important stage of their life. I believe personally that parents should allow their teenagers the freedom to make their own decisions because of the circumstances that will be soon to come. I am writing this essay to describe why teenagers should be able to express their rights as adults. Either the term close restriction or freedom of expression, of the young teenage mind is meant for some than the other. We are all lucky that we live in a country where freedom becomes a right and I believe that along with conducting themselves responsibly that teenagers should be able to express themselves and be able to experience the freedom they will receive in adulthood, which is expressed into greater detail in the news article “Psychologist Explains Teens’ Risky Decision-Making Behavior” from sciencedaily.com which elaborates on why teenagers have the tendencies that they have. Well as anyone can relate everyone we know in one way or another was raised differently from each other, including myself in their matter. But we all have one thing in common, we feel that at times it is wrong for a certain person to be dictate our lives as if we had no way of being responsible. Being a teenager is one of the greatest times of your life and it is meant to be lived......
...factors that lead teenagers to join gangs? Hypothesis: The amount of violence, crime, and fear gangs create in society has only been increasing throughout the years. One of the major problems with these gangs in society is that teenagers are the main members of them. The topic I am going to do my research experiment on, and try to find more valid research on is the reasons why teenagers join gangs. When conducting my research I would want to find out the main reasons what is driving teenagers to participate and turn to gangs. There can be so many factors that pushes a teenager to rebel and go as far as relying on gangs to be there for them. This would be great research to expand on, because learning what motivates these teenagers to join gangs would increase peoples knowledge about it. Increasing peoples knowledge about it I think would decrease the number of teens joining them. Friends, family members, school teachers and many more would be able to point out the early signs, or factors in their life that might be affecting them to go down the wrong path. With more knowledge about the teenage gang situation people might be able to steer kids into getting some help, such as talking to a counselor about their struggles, or directing them into better extracurricular activities such as sports or clubs. Method of Investigation: Based on previous literature I have read up on and studied I would have a pretty good general idea on what the main causes and answers to my......
...Stefany Lopez Sociology November.7.2012 In today’s society life, values and morals are very different from what they used to be years ago. Life has changed and people’s priorities have changed specially family’s priorities. In the world that we live in today families are no longer united, they no longer communicate and they no longer act as a family. Parents are no longer involved in their children’s life, leading to miscommunication and leading parents and their children to no longer have that bond or that communication that makes parents and children’s relationship strong (Page, Thomas, 2011). Today’s society revolves all around technology, appearances, sex, and material things especially in the lives of teenagers and young people. Teenagers no longer communicate with their parents; they would rather spend time on their computer, on their cellphones, playing video games, being on social networks, etc. The majority of young people especially teenagers not only in the United States but all over the world are spending their time in things that don’t really benefit them what so ever instead of putting their time into things that benefits them and will help in their future like school, sports, spending more time with their families and most importantly giving god some of their time, and having a spiritual life. Teenagers and young people are no longer having that spiritual connection because their parents are no longer making them be involved in church or making them be......
...Essay Being a teenager is hard. Everyone in every generation has experienced the unflattering acne, the raging hormones, and the countless distractions. Yet, I think the hardest part about being a teenager is staying positive when it seems like the world is against you. It’s hard to remain calm and focused when you feel nothing is going right. It is difficult to stay positive when you look around at society and disagree with so much of it. I used to think the hardest part of being a teenager was just saying “no” to peer pressure or choosing to watch Netflix instead of finishing homework. However, early in my junior year I took my ex-girlfriend to the councilor because she had started cutting herself. Throughout the year I continually faced more adverse challenges, my brother was expelled from school and my Mom was admitted to the hospital because she fainted twice on separate occasions. My grades started to slip, and I found my mood decline. Sometimes I didn’t even want to go to school because I could not get a grip on the world around me. I didn’t really share much about my personal issues, with any of my friends, till this point. Then I discovered how much my friends thought...
...become an epidemic, spreading rampantly across the United States and throughout the entire world. Every year, numerous teenagers make the decision to end his or her life. Suicidal adolescents can be from all aspects and walks of life. Each gender, every race, and every socioeconomic status is affected by teenage suicide. The ongoing crisis of teenage or adolescent suicide is in need of further understanding and attention. Extensive research is needed in hope of saving every adolescent that is suicidal. Certain questions need to be taken into consideration in order to understand a suicidal teenager. What could possibly drive a teenager to want to take his or her life? What are some signs that a teenager is contemplating about committing suicide? Who is able to help a suicidal teenager and what can be done to prevent teenage suicide? What interventions are already in place and what actions need to be implemented? Teenage Suicide Every death is a tragedy for a family, but when a teenager decides to end his or her own life, it seems to be even more heartbreaking. The family, friends, and the entire community are left questioning what could have possibly gone wrong and how this could have occurred. They are constantly wondering why this had to happen and what was going on in that teenager’s life to make him or her want to commit suicide. By recognizing at risk teenagers, having proper understanding of possible suicidal causations, and implementing appropriate intervention......
...Egg Baby Reflection Having an egg baby this week has impacted my thinking of having a baby at this age. My experience with my egg baby was positive, but it had its negative sides. It was positive because I got to decorate it making it individual and the process of making the egg itself was fun. Also, I like how a lot of people had an egg and we had to treat it like a real baby; taking care of it, finding a babysitter if needed, it made me feel responsible. But that leads to the negative side. It was negative because I had to carry it around everywhere I went including each class. It’s fine at home, but in school it can be a hassle to carry it around because people try to snatch it out of your hand, try to break it, and your hands are already full with books or binders so it was a little uncomfortable and pretty easy to drop the egg. If I had a child as a teenager, it would impact all my areas of health, meaning I won’t be able to balance all parts of the health star. First, it would impact my life physically, because I would lose my amount of rest from always getting up at night, I would always have to change diapers, feed the baby, and I may not even have time to feed myself! I would also have to teach my baby or help it and bring it almost everywhere with me. During pregnancy, I would gain weight, it would be harder to do things, and I would feel sick because my body is still not grown up, so my body would give the nutrients to me first or I wouldn’t have enough......
...I remember the time when my parents told me that the adolescence is the most beautiful period from our lives. At first I was a little bit confused and asked them why, although soon I was about to find the answer by my own. When you say adolescence, you say high school, friendship, guitar, sunny days, our first kiss, books, gossips, contests and the list goes on. In my opinion the first advantage in being an adolescent is the fact that the high school is changing our lives. Not only because we’re preparing for our future careers. It’s the time when we are strong enough to reach all our goals. I mean we are able to do the homework, learning for the next day and also relaxing with a guitar or body building if you’re a boy, or reading a book/ watching a movie with Brad Pit in a romantic role, if you’re a girl, all these activities in one day. But you see, unfortunately some of us (meaning at all the adolescents) are using this “freedom” in not a quite useful way. I mean at the fact that we are a generation which is grown up faster than it’s time and this might be the reason for the youngsters from the 7th grade who started to smoke cigarettes, ganjas and also started to argue/ even fight with their families. In my opinion this would be the 1st disadvantage. But probably the most important disadvantage is this kind of “war between the generations.” I’m taking it as a disadvantage because some of our parents are blaming us for using the ultimate drug – the internet, for too......

...The Bad Effects of The Internet On The Teenagers Brent Staples is an editorial writer for the New York Times. In “What Adolescents Miss When We Let Them Grow Up in Cyberspace”, Brent writes about how teenagers nowadays spend too much time on the Internet to communicate with each other, and forget to interact with families and friends in the real life. Using the Internet too much cost the teenagers don’t have socializing, the real world experience that would allow them to leave teenagers behind and grow into adulthood. (Staples 18) I strongly agree with Staples that many teenagers spend too much time on the Internet for chatting and playing online games than for studying and socializing. When teenagers spend too much time on the Internet, they will miss out the experience of talking face-to-face and don’t know how to communicate to a job later. Indeed, the Internet seriously takes away the socializing time of teenagers and makes them don’t have any social skills to communicate with the people in the real world. Over the past few months, I found out Facebook has become increasingly prominent in the lives of UC Davis students. Conversations are no longer made in real life person. Instead, many UC Davis students log in to their free Facebook accounts to communicate with each other. Moreover, I saw many of my friends send messages through Facebook to their next-door neighbor instead of walking a couple steps to meet with their neighbors face-to-face. They are seriously missed......
...years are the best years of one’s life.” Do you agree? “Life is 10 percent what you make it and 90 percent how you take it.” These were the words of the late Irving Berlin, one of America’s most prolific songwriters in history. Indeed, one’s perception on his or her best years of life would largely depend on how he or she regards life. In my perspective, the idea of the best years would be the years where one experiences the most happiness, where the years are filled with love and laughter, while teenage years refers to the age 13 to 19 period. To many, the teenage years are without doubt the best years of their life, however to that many number of people, there are many more out there who do not agree. In a general overview, there are many cases that supports or contradicts the statement, so let us go further into this issue and take a stand. The teenage years have often been considered as the carefree years, free of worries and responsibilities. Being carefree has also been cited as one of the reasons that made teenage years the best years of one’s life. However, to what extent is that true? In my opinion, the best indication of being carefree is stress levels. According to a survey by the American Psychological Association, American teenagers experience their highest level of stress on an average of 6.5days per month. This is considerably low compared to countries like China and Singapore, where the competitiveness resulted in teenagers experiencing high levels......
...Censorship for Teenagers Kathryn Criswell Western Governors University I. Censorship for Teenagers a. Is censorship dangerous to the development of our children? Censorship is a concern for parents, schools, librarians, and school administrators. Public education is vital to the future of society. Students must be allowed to develop the spirit of independent intellectual thinking and be exposed to a variety of conflicting ideas, images and viewpoints, in return giving them the knowledge to make the best choices in life (Reichman, 2001). b. Should parents censor what books their children read? Research suggests that censorship can have a negative impact on teenagers because the topics teenagers are facing today are the very ones that parents are trying to shelter them from. c. Main points: i. Censorship limits teenager’s ability to understand societal issues. ii. Censorship limits the knowledge teenagers have to make up their own minds and discuss their thoughts and opinions openly. II. According to the American Library Association, the following books are the 10 most challenged books of 2011. The graph represents the reasons why they are challenged. 1. ttyl; ttfn; l8r, g8r (series), by Lauren Myracle 2. The Color of Earth (series), by Kim Dong Hwa 3. The Hunger Games trilogy, by Suzanne Collins 4. My Mom’s Having a Baby! A Kid’s Month-by-Month Guide to Pregnancy, by Dori......
