YouTube sensation MyLifeIsEva , known in the real world as Eva Gutowski, has come out as bisexual. And we are so happy for her.
The vlogger took to Twitter to open up to fans about her sexuality on Wednesday night, addressing it in a series of five tweets . Her first post read, “just because you haven't dated someone of the same sex does not mean you can't be taken seriously as a bisexual,” possibly referring to surfer and YouTuber Alex Hayes, with whom she was previously romantically involved . But dating someone of the opposite sex doesn’t make her, or anybody else, straight, and she wanted to reiterate that — because who you date does not dictate your sexual orientation, no matter what anybody thinks or says.

Eva’s following tweets bring up an important point that accepting who you are and your sexual identity is part of living your honest and happiest life.

We’re so proud of Eva for her decision to talk about her sexuality for her fans — nobody is required to talk about their sexuality publicly, but doing so helps open up important conversations that are often swept under the rug.
Eva isn't the only one who has recently talked about sexuality on Twitter. Like Eva, Bella Thorne took to her account to come out as bisexual, and did so in the coolest way ever. Instead of making some grand announcement, she simply answered a fan asking if she was bisexual with one word: “Yes.”
Kristen Stewart has also opened up about her same-sex relationship — choosing not to label her sexuality — and Colton Haynes recently came out about his sexuality, too.
We’re so glad celebrities are openly discussing sexuality and what it means for them. Hopefully their honest words and actions will inspire others to consider living their own lives more authentically.

"I am ready for myself to fall in love with someone, no matter who they end up being, and have been since I was 12. Boy or girl."
The hilarious vlogger MyLifeAsEva — known IRL as Eva Gutowski — is #goals online for a million and one reasons: she never takes herself too seriously, knows how to poke fun at herself, and, oh, yeah, is wildly popular and successful on YouTube. But as of this week, she's also a role model for how to share personal news in a cool, confident way.
In a series of tweets on Wednesday night, Eva opened up to her followers for the first time about being bisexual.
Previously, Eva was in a relationship with surfer/YouTuber Alex Hayes . But after she deleted traces of him from her Instagram, it looks like she's probably single these days. The hilarious YouTube star struck down the misconception that if you're a girl dating a guy, you're automatically straight.
Then, after her announcement, it was back to the regularly scheduled programming her fans have come to know and love: aka full comedy all the time.

Why Eva Gutowski Opened Up About Her Sexual Assault
She wants other victims to know it gets better.

The young person’s guide to conquering (and saving) the world. Teen Vogue covers the latest in celebrity news, politics, fashion, beauty, wellness, lifestyle, and entertainment.
At 16 years old, YouTuber Eva Gutowski was sexually assaulted by a boy she went to high school with. When she confided in a trusted teacher, that teacher told school officials, who told police. That triggered a journey Eva did not want to be on. In her new book and in a video to go along with it, Eva opens up about her sexual assault, sending a message to the world that sexual assault is a huge issue with real consequences. But in addition to calling attention to the very real issue of sexual assault, Eva sends a powerful message to other victims that it does get better.
Eva released a video to go along with her book, My Life as Eva , detailing the section in which she opens up about her assault. In the video, Eva plays her 16-year-old self, just after she's been sexually assaulted. After telling her teacher about the assault, Eva is called to the principal's office, where police are waiting for her. From there, Eva is taken to the hospital for a rape kit, then shuttled to therapy appointments, police questioning, and more invasive processes that Eva says she didn't actually want. In the end, Eva said the police dropped her case and she was forced to see her attacker each day in the hallways at school.
"My teacher had told the office and the office had told the police. I spent the next three months in and out of therapy sessions. I didn't want any of that, though," Eva says in her video. "It was what other people thought I needed, when I kept telling them what I needed was time."
This is something many sexual assault victims can relate to. While some choose to report their attacks to the police and go through the justice process, others don't want to do that and that's OK. Many people who have not been sexually assaulted don't understand that some victims don't want to talk to police or therapists about their attack, and instead of listening to the victim when they say they don't want those things, loved ones force the victim into these situations thinking it's what's best for them. Actually, what's best for a victim of sexual assault is whatever they say they need.

Ultimately, it was in a grocery store that Eva says she realized she would be OK. When she was buying bananas, Eva lamented to a store clerk that they will just go brown soon and she'll have to throw them away. The store clerk suggested she make banana bread with her brown bananas, and Eva had an awakening.
"It was in that moment that I decided that I would take all the bad bananas in my life and turn them into the best tasting banana bread ever," Eva said.
And that's why Eva decided to share her story. She wanted to show people who haven't been sexually assaulted that it can have a huge impact on a someone's life, and she wanted to let others who have experienced sexual assault know that they could go on to live happy, amazing lives.

"Every day, someone is put into the same position that I was put into in this video. This is a problem that is happening everywhere and I have been over it since I was 16 years old. I'm tired of people not taking sexual harassment as a serious issue. It is," Eva says. For people who have been assaulted, Eva said there are ways to cope. "It's going to be hard but it's definitely possible. This is a true story that happened to me and I live the most beautiful life. Trust me, it gets better."
It seems like Eva is already getting her message out. In a tweet, Eva said she's gotten so much positive feedback on the book and the video, and for good reason.

One in five women will be sexually assaulted, and that number increases for LGBTQ and other marginalized people. That means Eva's story is one many can relate to. Sexual assault can be very isolating, but stories like Eva's are proof that you're not alone, and that it does get better. We're proud of Eva for speaking up and sharing her story.
If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, you can seek help by calling the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800-656-HOPE (4673) .
