one of my best friends i have known for a long time is very close to me all of a sudden and texts me a lot of hearts and she says "i love you" a lot and texts "kiss" a lot too but im not sure if its friendly or if she has a crush on me.
i really think she is and i want to ask her but im not sure how to ask if shes a lesbian without upsetting her or embarrassing myself because what if she isnt and she thinks im a lesbian because i asked
i really have to ask her because it makes me a little uncomfortable with the strange things she's been saying recently...

I wonder if you are not responding to the love-heart, "kiss" texts, and just keep letting them slide on by, whether your friend will accept that you don't want to say those kinds of things within your friendship with her.
She may or may not have a crush on you, but even if she has, it doesn't mean she's necessarily a lesbian. Girl-crushes happen a lot between straight girls and women.
She may just be feeling very close to you, it doesn't absolutely mean she's into you in that way, .maybe she has a new influence in her life who talks like that, lots of "I love you" etc ... it can be contagious.
If it really makes you feel uncomfortable, you may have to ask her to stop saying those things.
