Islam is a religion that narrates a precise code of conduct to the Muslims that enables them to learn how to live their lives happily. Virginity in Islam is very important. It is asked of women to remain chaste and righteous and lose virginity only on her wedding night. It does not imply that Muslim men are at liberty to have sex before marriage; the concept of virginity is not restricted to women only but to men too. Premarital or extramarital sex is forbidden to all. Unlike Christianity, celibacy is discouraged in Islam. One should devote his life to Islam but he or she is certified to live a normal life like everyone.
Islam does not stop Muslims to fall in love but it does command them to marry their lovers first, then they can enjoy intimacy and have sexual intercourse. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recommends young men to get married. He declares marital sex as an act of charity. They should only be part of Halal relationships. Muslims are not allowed to marry people of the same gender.
Virginity in Islam is reflected as a sign of chastity, innocence, and morality. In most of the Islamic cultures, virginity is considered a subject matter of honor for the family. For a Muslim bride, it is essential to bleed on her first night of the wedding. But bleeding on the wedding night is not recognized as a sign of losing virginity as many other factors can be the reason why the bride cannot bleed on her wedding night. There are a small percentage of women who do not bleed the first time they have sex because they have a very strong and elastic hymen, while others may have torn their hymen unintentionally; accidents, sports, horse riding or lifting heavy objects. Some women might break the hymen through masturbation.
Though virginity in Islam is preferred and required, some Muslim women do engage in sex before marriage and lose their virginity on the spur of the moment. Later, they realize that they have sinned; they may repent and want to regain their virginity. Regaining your virginity is a myth actually, but technically, you can have it by restoring your hymen. Some different techniques and products help women to restore their hymen. As a reward from Allah Ta’ala, every Muslim will get 72 virgins in heaven – a prevalent saying.
Do the Qur’an and Sunnah have a basis for this famous saying? Or what is the source of this claim? If every believer gets 72 virgins in heaven, what will those virgins look like?
What will be their character and behavior? How friendly will they be in love and entertainment? Can a man satisfy 72 virgins?
On the other hand, if a Muslim man gets 72 virgins in heaven, will a Muslim woman get 72 men? If not, what will Muslim women get?
There is no end to people’s interest in finding answers to the above questions. So in this post, we highlight these answers, and I hope they will benefit everyone.
The exact number of heavenly virgins given to each believer is not mentioned in the Qur’an and the pure Hadith. So it would not be correct to specify 72 virgins.
According to a hadith, every believer will have two wives in heaven. As Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates in a hadith of Bukhari Sharif, ‘Every man in Paradise will have two wives.’ (Sahih Bukhari – 3245)
Other hadiths also say that believers in heaven have more than two wives. As Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
‘There is no doubt that every believer will have more than two wives in heaven. Because there are such descriptions in Sahih Bukhari and Muslim Sharif.’
Shaykh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: ‘For every man in the heavens there will be two wives from among the people. And the rest will be hurra with wide eyes.’ (Majmoo’ Fatawa – 6/432)
Ibn Kathir said, ‘The intention by the two wives is – two of the children of Adam – peace be upon him. But except for those two, Allah Ta’ala will give the gift of Hur as per His will. (Al Bidaya wan Nihaya 20/341)
Ibn Hazara al-Asqalani said that the purpose of two wives is – two wives of the world. But there will be many more wives without this, and they will be classified as ‘Hurrs.’
Many other Imams and Muhaddiths have discussed the 72 virgins in Jannah. But no one specifically mentioned the number 72.
Because the Hadith about the 72 virgins in heaven is weak, this Hadith cannot present evidence. However, it is generally agreed that a believing man will have more than one wife in heaven.
Along with that, there will be innumerable nurses. Everyone will get all these blessings through his deeds and righteous deeds. As such, it cannot be said that there will be an equal rate for all.
Because the people close to Allah will get fewer benefits in Paradise and blessings that they will get in Paradise.
So the number of wives will not be the same. Some may have 72 virgins, and some may have 100 virgins. For some, it may be 500 hundred or five thousand.
The virgins of heaven have been called ‘Hur’ in the language of the Holy Qur’an. This word is mentioned in four suras in the Qur’an.
First, verse 54 of Surah Dokhan says,” I will give them a wife with wide eyes.”
Secondly: verse 20 of Surah Tur says, “They will recline on thrones. I will tie the knot with them.”
Thirdly, verse 72 of Surah Ar-Rahman says, “There are maidens in the tent for the people of heaven.”
Fourth: in verses 22 to 37 of Surah Waqi’ah, it is said,
“‘There (in heaven) are bright-eyed hurrahs like pearls in a veil. As a reward for what they (the believers) have done. They will not hear any sin in it (in heaven); they will only listen to salutations and salutations.
Those are the team on the right; how lucky is the team on the right. They will be in gardens with thornless trees, weeping bananas and long shadows, ever-flowing rivers, and plenty of fruit, which is neither ending nor forbidden.
And there will be a high bed. I have specially created the girls of Paradise and made them eternal virgins, lustful, and peers.”
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The women of the heavens are created in four colors. Namely — white, yellow, green, and red.
Their bodies are made of saffron, myrrh, amber, and camphor. Cloves create their hair. They are scented with fragrant saffron from their feet to their knees.
Mriganavir made it from knee to navel, made of amber from navel to neck, made of camphor from neck to head.
If a woman threw a little spit on the earth, the whole world would be filled with fragrance.
Will write the name of the great God and the husband’s name on their chests. Each one will have ten gold bracelets. Each finger will have a pearl ring, and the anklet will have jewels on both feet.
Abu Huraira – Radiyallahu Anhu – said,
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The first group to enter Paradise will look like the moon on the 14th.
Their spit will not come to Paradise. No runny nose, no need to defecate, and their sweat will be fragrant like mesh.
Each of them will have two wives; their beauty will pierce their flesh, and the marrow inside the bones will be seen. There will be no differences among the people of Paradise.
There will be no enmity between them. Everyone will be one mind, one soul. In the morning and the afternoon, they will proclaim the holiness of God. (Sahih Bukhari – 2995)
Those who will get the opportunity to enter Paradise by their deeds and by Allah Ta’ala will get 72 virgins in heaven as a reward for their good deeds.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘There is a tent made of pearls for the believers in heaven.
Whose height is 30 miles? In every corner of it, there will be women for the believers whom no one has seen. (Sahih Bukhari – 2993)
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:
“There is such a tree in Paradise that no rider can cross it even if he walks in its shade for a hundred years.” (Sahih Bukhari – 2990)
In the Holy Quran, Allah Ta’ala says ,
O Prophet, give glad tidings to those who believe and do good deeds, for them is a garden beneath which rivers flow.
Whenever they are allowed to eat fruit, they will say, “Such is the fruit we used to be given.” They will be given the same fruit in their outward appearance (but the taste will differ).
And for them, there is a holy companion. They will abide therein forever. ‘(Surat al-Baqara, 25)
The answer to this question is not explicitly mentioned anywhere in the Qur’an and Hadith. However, the women enter Paradise in the Hereafter because their faith and good deeds will not be deceived.
They will not be deprived of any kind and will not face any injustice – that is an inevitable truth.
Because Allah Ta’ala has stated the principle of the reward of heaven, ‘There is for you whatever your mind desires and whatever you order.
” These will be received as hospitality from the Forgiving, the Most Merciful.” (Surah, Ha Mim Sajdah – 31)
So the women of heaven will get whatever they want immediately. As we have discussed above, the woman who is the wife of the man in this world will be that man’s wife in the Hereafter.
So women are getting men just as men are getting women. Apart from this, there are other blessings of Paradise.
