โ The idea ๐ก to write ๐๏ธ this book ๐๏ธ was born during our ๐ฅโฌ ๏ธ visit to a mushroom ๐ farm house ๐๏ธ at Bunda College of Agriculture, University of โ๐ฒ๐ผโ, Lilongwe, โ๐ฒ๐ผโ, โ also during ๐ฅโฌ ๏ธ discussions with several beginners of ๐ ๐งบ activities in Dar es Salaam, โ๐น๐ฟโ โ other countries in ๐๏ธ. The visits were a part of a fact ๐ mission for a UNDPUNOPS-funded Regional Project for ๐๏ธ on Promoting Sustainable ๐จโ๐ป๏ธ in ๐๏ธ from ๐๏ธ biodiversity, which was based at the University of โ๐ณ๐ฆโ, โ whose ๐๏ธ Director was the ๐ฅ author of the ๐๏ธ, who was then also a ๐๏ธ UNESCOUNU ๐บ for ๐๏ธ, based in โ๐ณ๐ฆโ. The ๐ฅ Edition of the ๐๏ธ was a product of a ๐ compiled by Prof. S. T. Chang โ Prof. K. E. Mshigeni in October 2๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ, within the broad โ๏ธ of the UNDPUNOPS Project referred to above. The objective of the ๐ฅ Edition of the ๐๏ธ was to enable beginners of Agriculture, ๐ University of Malawi, Lilongwe, Malawi, and also during our discussions with several beginners of mushroom farming ๐งบ activities in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and other countries in Africa. The visits were a part of a fact finding mission for a UNDPUNOPS-funded Regional Project for Africa on Promoting Sustainable Development in Africa from Africas biodiversity, which was based at the University of Namibia, and whose Founding Director was the second author of the book, who was then also a Founding UNESCOUNU Chair for Africa, based in Namibia. The First Edition of the book was a product of a document compiled by Prof. S. T. Chang and Prof. K. E. Mshigeni in October 2000, within the broad umbrella of the UNDPUNOPS Project referred to above. The objective of the First Edition of the book was to enable beginners of mushroom farming activities in Africa ๐๏ธ to have some basic understanding of mushroom ๐ biology ๐งซ and โ mushroom ๐ farming ๐งบ technologies. The current book ๐๏ธ updates the technologies involved, showthe great advances recently made ๐ ๏ธ in mushrooms ๐ and โ human health.
