When my eldest child was a baby one of my most indulgent ‘new Mum’ activities was going to the movies almost every week! For about the first 12 weeks of her life she would snuggle into her sling and sleep pretty much through every movie I saw.
If you have never been to a Mums & Bubs movie session here are some things you should know:
If you have never been to a Mums & Bubs movie session and have felt unsure about it I encourage you to give it a go. It really is much easier to manage than you think it will be and a great way to get out of the house and do something for yourself.

Not what I expected! Haha

husband and I really wanted to see Last Cab to Darwin and there was a mums and bubs session at village cinemas today. We thought it would be a good early outing. But I kinda thought it would be lots of babies/kids and their parents/grandparents/whoever. Turns out the tickets are cheaper and anyone can go to the sessions so as a result it was us and one other baby and about 25 seniors. Even though the message on the screen said it was baby noise and feeding friendly I certainly didn't feel that way. Sitting right next to some old men was not how I pictured my first public bf experience (although I know I'm totally allowed to) and they kept looking at me when my bub cried. So stressful! But I did it. Is this what other peoples experiences has been like if they've been before?

Ps it's a really great movie! Cried so much- thank you hormones.

Oh wow I assumed it was all mum and bubs!

Oh wow I assumed it was all mum and bubs!

I know :/ or at least...all groups would have atleast one bub between them.

I can't believe they looked at you when your baby cried... At a mums and bubs session... Really? Some people!

Oh wow really?? My partner and I want to go to a session next week so I hope it's not just full of old men. But I'm glad I have this as a heads up so I can get my game face on!

I used to go with my DD last time and it was always just mums & their babies. There were a few old seniors though sometimes. I enjoyed it cos my DD used to go to sleep the whole time. I plan to do it again this time. There is a movie next week that I really want to watch and the week after is a movie that OH wants to watch.

I went with DS a few times. It's been a different mix of people everytime we've been but I wasn't expecting the older people the first time I saw them.

I did not know they had mums and bubs movies. I looked it up and my local cinema does them. Thanks for making my day :)

I'm thinking maybe it was the movie itself that brought out so many older people? But it really was fabtastic. I'll betrying again then! I love the idea of baby friendly movies

I took my 2 year old DD to see Inside Out on a week day when I was meant to be on bed rest. I was expecting a few other pre-school aged kids. There was one lady with dementia, and I thought it was a great idea to get her out and about! Kudos to her son. But my daughter was the only kid in there! There were just old people and uni students. I also felt so self conscious when my DD gave a running narration of the first 10min! But it's a kids movie!
