Paedophiles are using Periscope, the livestreaming app from Twitter , to bombard young children with 'disturbing requests' via their mobile phone.
The service, which allows people to film themselves and post live video links online, currently has around 10 million users.
According to Periscope's own terms and conditions, people 'must be at least 13-years-old' to sign up to the service.
Concerns have been raised that Periscope, Twitter's live streaming service, is being used by paedophiles to groom young children and then bombard them with indecent requests
But concerns have been raised that Periscope is being used by children much younger than the minimum age, who are then subjected to lurid requests posted by paedophiles looking to exploit the youngsters.
In a video shown to The Sunday Express , a girl aged around seven or eight is seen sitting in her living room, with her mother just metres away, while paedophiles post sexual requests.
Speaking to the paper, Shaun Stockdale, 34, from Hull, said he noticed a large number of users clicking onto the video and was disturbed by the comments being posted underneath.
'It became clear pretty soon that these were not children her own age, they were grown men – paedophiles – exploiting her for their own gratification.

'What seems to happen is that one will join the live stream and start inviting others until there is a big group.
'They then band together to manipulate the child, like one will say ‘you’re too shy’ and another will agree until he or she does what they ask.'
Periscope does have a list of community guidelines and asks users not to post content that: 'Depicts pornography or sexual acts. This includes intercourse, masturbation, and sexual nudity.'
In addition, the service states: 'We also have zero tolerance for any form of child sexual exploitation.'
Failure to adhere to the guidelines, 'may result in the removal of content and/or the temporary or permanent disabling of [the] account.'
Last June, the chief executive of the NSPCC highlighted the rising problem of paedophile gangs using live-streaming footage of children being abused to avoid detection and operate internationally.
The National Crime Agency said it is aware that people are using apps like Periscope to groom young children and was investigating.
A spokesman said: 'Anyone who is concerned that a young person is being sexually abused or exploited online, or encounters images of child sexual abuse, should report this via the CEOP safety centre.'
