Mr Travel : One bot to rule all transport apps

The market is oversaturated with thousands of apps such as MyTransport, SG Buses etc. that caters to helping you get around Singapore. So why do we need yet another app??

Take a look at how many transport apps you have on your phone. Why do you have so many of them? Well its because every one of them do not cater to ALL your transportation needs. One might be specialised in getting bus timings and another in helping you get directions to your destination. What if we combine all of them and create something that has the features of all these apps?

That was one of my motivation for creating Mr Travel https://t.me/Mr_Travel_bot. I hope to reduce the need for so many transport apps, as well as creating a bot that is simple and user-friendly. A bot that can also be used on all your devices such as your phones, computers etc.

Another motivation was how annoyingly inaccurate google maps is at times. Google maps does not account for time spent waiting for the bus or mrt. For example, google maps might say that you would reach in 30mins but in actual fact you will reach in 50mins due to the long bus arrival time. Mr Travel accounts for all these factors and calculate the fastest route available.

Ok now let me introduce some of the features Mr Travel has...

Get directions fast

Getting directions to oyur desitnation is both easy and fast. Just type <start_location> to <end_location> as seen below.

The bot will immediately send you the steps to your destination as seen below. Not sure how to walk to your location? Just click show and google or apple maps will open up with the walking route.

Below the message, there is also are also options to reverse the direction of travel for getting back, and to refresh. Furthermore, you can also select routes with less walking and fewer transfers. If the route requires you to take the bus, an option to show bus timings for that bus stop will appear too.

Get more specific directions

Sometimes you might have a start and end address to input. Its tedious to type them out. Therefore there is also the option to input start and end location via the map inbuilt into telegram.

Get bus timings that auto refreshes

Every bus stop has a bus stop code that can be easily found. By keying that code in, the bot will send you a list of bus timings that automatically refreshes.

Check how close your bus is to your destination

Many times when we are unfamiliar with the route, we are frantically checking google maps to see if our bus is nearing our destination. Now you can relax. Mr Travel informs you when you are nearing your destination. Just type /notify <target bus stop code> and send your live location as shown below.

When you are nearing your destination. A message and a map of your location will pop up.

Get first and last train timings

Out late at night and not sure if your train has left? Don't worry! Just send /info <station_you_are_at> to Mr Travel.
