Like many around the world, Howard spent his Sunday evening
watching the 90 th Academy Awards and had a full report prepped for
listeners on Monday morning.
The biggest news of the evening, of course, was host and
celebrity superfan Jimmy Kimmel closing out the award show with a “Hit ’em with
the Hein” shout-out in a nod to the Stern Show. Watch it here .
Additionally, frequent caller King of All
Blacks and Howard’s stylist Ralph Cirella were brought together to critique the
red carpet fashion, but had more to say about each other instead of the actual
event. The two spent their time on air trading barbs and couldn’t seem to agree
on much about Hollywood’s biggest night.
In other news, after much fanfare Howard filmed his episode with
David Letterman on Thursday for Netflix’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction
with David Letterman.”
By all accounts from the audience, the forthcoming interview
will go down as one of the best with the King of All Media. Even Howard’s longtime
friends Gary Dell’Abate and Ralph revealed they both learned a few things about
him which they didn’t know before.
Mariann from Brooklyn was also in attendance and wanted
positive reinforcement for remaining calm throughout the show despite her obvious
excitement.
Mr. Skin returned to the Stern Show on Monday to present Howard with the complete winners list of his 19 th Anatomy Awards – “the breast and brightest in film and television nudity over the last year.” Categories ranged from Breast Picture to Most Shocking Nudity and one world famous musical icon also took home the prestigious Lifetime Skinchievement Award.
To see all of Mr. Skin’s uncensored pics of this year’s winners, click the 2018 Anatomy Awards button (above).
Finding all of these “skinematic” moments is hard work but Mr. Skin told Howard he gets help from a staff of almost 40 employees. He even has several members of his own family working for him including cousins, his sister, and his mom.
“She’s a ‘skintern,’” Mr. Skin told Howard about his mother. She’s been busy fast forwarding to the good parts for her son but recently had to email him to ask a work-related question.
“My mom, who’s a very sweet lady, hit me up … she wasn’t sure if it was bush or a shadow,” Mr. Skin said with a laugh. “I helped her out, yeah. It was a shadow. Her eyes aren’t what they used to be but I’m glad she asked.”
After Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty announced the Best
Picture winner once again (this year from the correct envelope) and “The Shape
of Water” walked away with the night’s top prize, host Jimmy Kimmel ended the
evening in perhaps the best way possible: with a “Hit ‘em with the Hein.”
During his visit with Howard in 2017, Kimmel explained he had wanted to throw in a Stern Show shout-out at the end of last year’s Oscars but couldn’t due to the “La La Land” and “Moonlight” mix-up. On Sunday night, however, Jimmy wished his wife
Molly a happy birthday, ribbed his longtime pal Matt Damon, and then dropped
the now internationally famous Stern Show catchphrase live on the ABC broadcast.
“Happy birthday to my wife, and apologies to Matt Damon, we
ran out of time for him. Don’t forget to always hit ‘em with the Hein.
Goodnight, everybody,” Jimmy said as the Oscars came to a close.
Reactions from famous Stern Show superfans begain to pour in
on Twitter. Check out a few of the tweets (below).
The last weekend of award season had Stern Show shout-outs
aplenty. Before Jimmy Kimmel closed the Academy Awards with a “Hit ‘em with the
Hein” on Sunday, stand-up comedian John Mulaney started Saturday’s Independent
Spirit Awards with a joke about Wack Packer Sour Shoes. Mulaney, along with his
co-host and “Oh, Hello” co-star Nick Kroll, were talking up fan-favorite film “Lady
Bird” and its star Saoirse Ronan during their opening monologue.
“’Lady Bird’ was written and directed by the incredible Greta
Gerwig and it stars the wickedly talented Sour Shoes Ronan,” Mulaney said. Kroll
instantly backed him up with a “Nailed it.”
Check out the moment around the “noine” minute mark in the
video (above).
Gerwig went on to win Best Screenplay for “Lady Bird” later
in the night. And though Saoirse didn’t take home the Best Female Lead award,
it’s certainly an honor just to have one’s name associated with a Wack Pack
member.
Sal Governale has been known to mispronounce words and flub
historical facts from time to time, but does he come by the lack of knowledge
honestly? The Stern Show staffer quizzed his father on some general knowledge
recently to see if the 77-year-old former pizzeria owner had the answers.
See if you can guess how Sal’s dad answered each of these questions (below).

Not that we need an excuse to focus on nudity, but the discussion of the bare female form in this year’s crop of Oscar-contenders has made Mr. Skin’s annual Anatomy Awards seem almost relevant. The Best Oscar-Nominated Anatomy Award went to Marisa Tomei for her flesh-baring in The Wrestler , edging out Kate Winslet’s obligatory (and still very much appreciated) nudity in fellow Best Pic contender The Reader (Winslet did win the Lifetime Skinchievement Award, however) and Best Actress nominee Angelina Jolie’s “brief nudity” in Changeling . I have to agree with that decision. It isn’t just that Tomei’s nudity still feels so fresh, having only just recently being introduced to the viewing audience, but as a 43-year-old woman playing an aging stripper practically begging for lap dance customers at a seedy Jersey club, there truly was no one more nude than Tomei in any of last year’s movies.
Elsewhere, Skin gave the Best TV Show Award to True Blood , which has basically taken the romanticism of vampire lore and upped it to the point of soft-core porn ( Blood’ s Lizzy Caplan also won Best First-Time Nude Scene), and Anna Faris got the Anatomy for Best Butt for her role in The House Bunny , which I’ve not yet seen, though between this award and Faris’ extremely competent performance hosting SNL last year, I think I’ll have to add it to the portion of my Netflix queue dedicated to “Movies I’ll Watch After My Wife Falls Asleep.”
A fuller list of Mr. Skin’s 10th Annual Anatomy Award Winners, after the jump.
What do you think of the list this year, PopWatchers? Was 2008 a particularly fine year for on-screen nudity? Who was snubbed? Anyone completely offended by the mere concept of these “awards?”

Today on the Stern Show: Mr. Skin stops by, the Wack Pack is decided and more from today’s show!
Howard recently got to wondering which Wack Packer he would want to be if given the choice. He and co-host Robin Quivers decided to really hash it out but first, they had to figure out who was and who wasn’t a member of the Wack Pack.
And so, once and for all, here is who the Stern Show has selected as official Wack Packers.
Surprisingly, it seemed that everyone who did not make it into the Wack Pack was very upset about it. Mariann from Brooklyn called up to voice her displeasure in not being selected. Bobo was equally devastated, and Captain Janks tried to prove he was in by claiming the phrase Wack Packer was coined especially for him. Gay Ramone even called up crying.
Then it came time for Howard and his staff to pick who’d they want to be in the Wack Pack.
Stern Show Executive Producer Gary Dell’Abate immediately chose Gary the Conqueror and nobody could figure out why. Howard theorized that it was solely because Gary wouldn’t have to change his name.
Fred Norris initially went with Jeff the Drunk, but decided that he’d need to think about it some more.
Ronnie Mund immediately went with Miss Howard Stern because she loves to drink and party.
Sal Governale chose Beetlejuice because he’s always having a blast – though it was revealed that he acts conservatively when he’s at home with his mother.
Benjy Bronk chose Ass Napkin Ed since his life seemed fun.
We polled the rest of our staff off the air and here were their picks:
Jon Hein – Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf
Jason Kaplan – Wendy the Slow Adult
You watched the Oscars, which weren’t that big a deal, and you rejoiced in Howard’s triumphant acceptant of the Best Men’s Hair in America award, which was a huge deal, well, there is one final awards ceremony this season—the Mr. Skin Anatomy Awards!
