:idea: Hello this is my first post here. Long time fan of the site, but wanted to practice before participating.

After I got decent doing traditional face replacement I wanted to try taking it up a notch. So I made a large data set of recent images of Billie Eilish during a recent interview. I used this particular data set because I knew it would be difficult to extract the face without including all of her hair due it covering her face in a number of ways. I was trying to challenge myself so I grabbed a pretty difficult destination video. It was a POV from Amadani. I chose her because she had similar hair color as Billie at the time, and more importantly the correct body type. The difficulty was in the face and positioning. Amadani has a very different facial structure than Billie, and her hair line was a few inches above where Billies started. On top of that she's laying at an angle where her face is often not in line with camera. But like I said I wanted something like that so I could use a more traditional video in the future with greater success with the same data set. It showed me the limits of the technique.

It took over a week to make something I thought was passible. At first the results were horrendous, the hair and angle caused an endless glitch over the face the whole video. After cleaning my data set of 30,000 down to 15,000, the results improved drastically.

After generating decent results in deepfacelab, I wanted to try the method I had seen for applying the mask and blending manually in video editing software. I am no master at any of this, but am especially green on the editing side. I used Davinci Resolve, and was able to clean the result a decent amount. My edits introduced some new problems, like darkness around the head, but the result was mostly stable. I cut out any glitches the mask didn't get so it's a bit jumpy at times. After 2 days spent editing and I must say learning the editor I thought it was time to move on to trying to make the high quality video using cleaner footage and same source.
I was happy with the result I got during this experiment though. Yes it looks a tad weird at times, but I think I was able to decently transfer a lot of the complexity of the hair over to the destination without it appearing totally unnatural. So I figured this would be how I introduced myself to the community.
I'm open to tips of any kind to improve in the future, but I'm finished with this video. All in all I'm happy with it, I know it's far from perfect, but this was my first serious project with deep fakes, it taught me a lot, and honestly I'm happy with how it looks even if no one else is.

Agreed, however the amateur nature of her videos (not saying anything negative of Amadani, that is just her style) it's hard to use. For example the drastic movement in camera angles.
I'll admit there are some things I would have done differently with that video had I made it now, but I was excited to finally get the hair semi working, and in turn I ended up rushing the edit.

I'm working on another project now. I'm using the same source set I used in the above clip, but for the destination I've decided on a decent clip I found from Brazzers. This one I'm taking my time on, so it may be a month or more before I'm finished, but so far the results are much better.

The next clip will for sure include a perfected implementation of the long hair swap, as well as contain another actor on screen at the same time as the chosen model for a little challenge. I can't stand the models voice though, so I will attempt to do a voice cloning of Billie, if I'm not happy with it I'll just scrap it, but I've been having decent results with the software in practice.
I don't quite understand half of the things you said since hair covering face is hardly an obstacle when working with DFL, you have XSeg masks so you can exclude hair on both SRC and DST, since recent photos of Billie have often hair covering eyebrows it would make sense to mask DST in a way to uncover eyebrows.

The face seems quite wobly, like it's not in sync, perhaps that's because of the post work you did.

I can probably try this clip with my set and model without the things you did and I'm certain it would work, all you did with those steps is made the process take longer than necessary, just use DFL with XSeg, post is optional, I never use it to change mask shapes, only to add sharpening or soften the face, add color correction or some grain.

Nevermind, just saw the video, that explains the steps you took, you should have added it was a swap with the hair too.

Did you use a HEAD model or WF and just manually masked it in post? Why didn't you try to mask it with XSeg? It can handle and learn hair, even when it's moving a bit, not that DFL can understand hair movement but it can work, even if it's slightly blurry.
