I knew this day would come as I had been warned by those who had gone before me. He's going to ask someday. She's going to have questions. You need to get your story straight.

I knew this day would come as I had been warned by those who had gone before me.
You need to get your story straight. You have to be *prepared* because you'll be caught with your pants down when the kids ask about the specifics of sex.
And, in a dark car, on the way home from dinner, it happened: my son and I had a whopper of a conversation.
While I've mostly recovered from the trauma, my friends are still reeling from the advice I gave him.
The evening started out innocently enough. After attending an event as a family, Hubby and I decided to take the kids out for dinner at one of our favorite watering holes (read: drink martinis as the kids consumed large quantities of fried foods and dessert). We spent that time talking to each other, visiting with friends who'd also gone to the restaurant and joking with our favorite bartender. It was a picture perfect moment: warm sweaters, noisy atmosphere, a family smiling together. I had no way of knowing that my son had questions brimming and he'd decided he was going to get some answers on the way home.
As we had taken two cars,my son opted to ride home with me. I should have seen this as a SIGN, people. Of what, I don't know, but I should have seen SOMETHING coming.
Once in the car, and about two seconds after I navigated the car away from the curb, he dropped a bomb on me: there was a sexting scandal at school and he was upset.
Let me repeat that: MY TWELVE YEAR OLD WAS UPSET ABOUT A SEXTING INCIDENT. Twelve. As in, they don't even have the word "teen" in their ages yet, bitchachos.
Pardon me as I try not to drive this people mover right into a tree.
While he was not involved (THANKYOUSWEETBABYJESUS), he was upset about the consequences, the children involved and the general implications that this kind of thing brings. He wondered what would happen if he received salacious texts, who he should tell, why kids would do such a thing. Heavy topics weighed on his mind and he wanted to talk about all of it. WITH ME. As I was driving heavy machinery. In the dark. Without Hubby as a back up.
I'm not going to lie: I was caught with my pants down and I swear, the deer we passed on the road did not look nearly as surprised as I did when I was driving.
But, I made a choice to keep driving, to take the longest way home possible because my tween was talking, openly talking to me about sex. I didn't know when, or if, this situation would ever present itself again. I don't know if it was the dark, country roads I slowly drove, the fact that we weren't facing each other or if the stars just magically aligned to make him open up, but it happened.
As we quieted from the sexting discussion, he coyly and shyly said, "I have one more question" and the tone of his voice made me realize I needed to brace myself.
"Well. You know. Some of the boys, they talk about this thing that involves blowing. And work. Blow work, is it? Something that is like a job and involves blowing. I don't know what that means. Can you explain that to me?".
I'M NOT GOING TO SURVIVE THE TEEN YEARS, YOU GUYS.
Here I was, in a car, being asked a specific question about a sex act from my twelve year old. In the split seconds that followed his question, I debated: do I tell him? Do I push it aside and tell him that's for grown ups? Do I pull over on the side of the road and call Hubby to take over? How hard will I have to junk punch Hubby when I get home? I honestly didn't know what to do and, as I gripped the steering wheel and tried to keep myself from driving into a cornfield, I made a decision.
I told him. I was honest and forthright. And, then it was HIM wearing the deer in the headlights expression.
As the reality of the answer set in, and, realizing these moments with tweens are fleeting, I took it one step further: I told him a committed relationship is a two way street and when you are intimate with someone, it's never one sided. If he's alone with a girl, it's to be enjoyable for both of them and it's never okay to let a girl please him solely.
I told him that if you get one, you give one. Plain and simple. Because no daughter in law of mine is going to stand in my kitchen and wonder why he's such a greedy asshole in the bedroom.
And, judging from the looks of horror on my friends' faces as I've recounted this story, I seem to be in the minority when it comes talking openly with kids about sex. I've been accused of condoning pre marital sex. I've been told I crossed a line by explaining the specifics of a sex act to my child. And, I've been told that I'm asking for trouble by telling him that his eventual girlfriend's needs are important, too. Mostly, my friends have cry laughed at the image of me driving down the street being asked about knob polishing. And, naturally, they all asked how soon I'd be blogging about my drive from hell....
But, for all the judgement, all the shocked outcry, I stand by what I told my son. I stand by my honesty and I hope, that in doing so, I've set the stage for him to want to come back to ask questions, to get good, solid answers from his father and I. And, in that moment, he trusted me with his thoughts and was open and honest with me. The least I could do was be honest right back.
Because if you get it, you give it, people.

They say mothers and sons have a close relationship, but this story may take the cake.
Taking to internet forum Reddit, a woman only known by her screenname of ‘u/chewbawkaw’ explained that she’d been seeing her 30-year-old boyfriend for about a year and recently went on holiday with him and his family. It was one of the first times she’d had a chance to get to know her in-laws, who live in a different state.
While the parents were warm and welcoming, the woman couldn’t help but notice her partner’s mother was very touchy-feely towards her sons . Most parents are fond of a cuddle and a kiss, but she explained that it was nothing compared to what she experienced on the holiday.
For example, her partner would be in his bathing suit and his mother would come from behind and wrap her arms around him, caressing his chest and nuzzling his neck.
“She also did that once while my boyfriend and I were kissing,” the woman added.
Another time, the couple were sharing a cuddle in bed when the mother came out of her room and laid on top of her son, exposing her underwear. However, she said the mother was even closer with her other son.
“He would be in his little twin bed napping in just boxer briefs and she would come up in her nightie and spoon him,” she explained. “She would stroke his chest, thighs, back and arms. He would pull up her shirt to stroke her belly and would rub her body as well.”
The brother would regularly tell his mother how beautiful she was, although the woman said it would be sweet if she wasn’t rubbing her naked body on her son when he was saying it. The woman said no one in the family seemed bothered by the touching and even noticed the husband paying his wife plenty of attention.
“I also want to reiterate that I DO NOT think that this is a sexual thing (hopefully) between his family,” she wrote. “It just doesn’t seem like they ever updated their personal boundaries. Like if her kids were 4 years old instead of 30 this probably wouldn’t look as weird…right?”
She acknowledged that normal is subjective and that it’s just the standard people are used to, but questioned if it would be weird if she was in bed wearing a bikini with her own father spooning her.
“Most of me feels like I should just keep my mouth shut because he has two parents and a brother that love him to the moon and back,” she continued. “On the other hand, if he was raised in an environment where what would be typically considered sexual touching was used as non-sexual affection, it makes sense that he has been struggling with physical boundaries now that he lives away from his community.”
Other Reddit users offered their opinions and advice for the woman.
One person wrote: “This is very, very weird and inappropriate, and the mother is the one instigating it.”
Another comment read: “If you are an intuitive person than it would be a good idea to press your bf [boyfriend] a little bit about how far the mother goes. Gauge his reactions and figure out what to do next. He may need some help.”
A third added: “I was thoroughly disturbed by this post. That woman is creepy. Mothers don’t cuddle their barely clad adult sons while they’re wearing little nighties. And neither do adult sons lift their mother’s top to stroke their belly. Ick. In what reality is this all NOT sexual? If you and your boyfriend take your relationship to the next step, be prepared for creepy mommy to view you as competition that needs to be eliminated.”

There is no visual more horrifying for me than catching my child in the middle of a sexual act in our home.
My son has a beautiful girlfriend who I adore. They have been dating for a while, and I understand how it is to be a 21-year-old with raging hormones. But the rule in this house is NO SEX AT ALL…and that includes me (unless I’m married). There is another rule: no drugs under this roof. This is the second time I caught my son and his girlfriend in the act. I lost my mind and threatened to throw everyone out for not obeying the rules. I was so upset at the blatant disrespect of his actions that I needed to leave my house and cool off, so I wouldn’t end up doing bodily harm to someone!
Sexual behavior can be animalistic and reckless or done with feelings of love, longevity and respect. I realized that I didn’t have a conversation with my son about which way he views sex and felt a conversation was in order. I am not the “cool mom.” I am not going to put condoms in a jar and allow girls to come “hang out” with him in his room. I am more of the if-you-have-time-to-hang-out-then-you-have-time-for-work-and-school mom. I am not comfortable knowing that my son is having sex in his room. Nope…can’t do it.
I called him into my room the next day to find out why he made this poor decision once again. This is how the conversation went:
“First off, I wanted to apologize for the way I behaved yesterday towards you and your girlfriend. I said many things I meant, but I shouldn’t have said them out loud. As a parent I have to show restraint even in difficult times, because I would want you to think before you speak. Ok?” I said. He looked shocked and slowly shook his head
“Is this a joke? You are apologizing to me because I broke the rules?” he said.
“No I am apologizing for the way I behaved regardless of the situation. I can’t allow you to take me to a place where I am out of control. Speaking of control, are you in love with your girlfriend?”
“I don’t know, I guess so, maybe,” he responded.
“Let me explain something to you about the responsibility of having sex. I understand that you want to get it on and be very physical due to your hormones raging out of control. But most women see sex differently than men. Your girlfriend loves you; she was still googly-eyed yesterday while I was cussing you both out. She traveled over here to see you and displayed every action indicating she is very interested in you. If you are having sex with her without your heart in it, then do her a favor and stop immediately.”
“What do you mean my heart, Mom? What are you talking about?” he said.
“Women take men “IN” we hold you FIRM and try not to let you go. Do you understand that statement? Women are sensitive creatures who, for the most part, have a direct connection between the vagina and their heart. It is your responsibility as a man to spend your time with those you want to really spend your time with. I don’t want you being a man just slinging your thing at every hole that comes your way. It is irresponsible and it hurts women. It hurts us to know that we have let you “IN” yet, you never wanted to be there for more than that moment. Sex should couple emotion and love; it should be done with thought. I hope you are thinking about her heart, or anyone else’s for that matter, before you give them your penis.”
His attitude during the conversation went from laughing nervously to being pensive. Then he said, “I love her, but I didn’t tell her yet.”
“Ok, well, if you love her, treat her with kindness and use thought. Please don’t be a man whore. I will be disappointed if I spent all this time acting like Mother Teresa around you to find out you are an ultimate whore.”
“Mom, OKAY. I understand; I got you. I am not all over the place; it’s not my way, Not everyone can get this.” He said as he walked away
It was the first conversation I had with him about feelings and what to do with them and how to manage them with sex. He is 21. After I spoke to him, I felt like this should have been something I spoke about all along as I do with my daughter. Raising thoughtful young men who are sexually responsible creates men who have a slimmer chance of treating women like a pieces of meat. In a perfect world, he would take that information and be the best boyfriend/husband the world has ever seen, full of compassion and romantic gestures, sweetly in love with his partner. That is what I wish for him.
What do you think about your children having sex in your house? What message are you sending to them while allowing them freedom to express and grow? I would love to know!

Please answer this simple math question.
My son is 14, but he often gets an erection. I don’t know whether he watches porn or whether or not he masturbates. Please tell me what I should do about this
My son is 14 years old, but he often gets an erection. I have observed that he enjoys looking at pictures of models in the newspapers and on the internet. I have noticed — on various occasions — that he gets a massive erection while sleeping as well as while watching television. I don’t know whether he watches pornorgaphic videos or whether or not he masturbates. Please tell me what I should do about this issue. I am very worried about him.
Before you advise him, advise yourself. When a boy turns about 12 years of age, he starts expressing his sexual desire. This manifests through the actions you have mentioned and his erections. Let me tell you, his behaviour is normal and all young men go through this. The only thing is, his behaviour with members of the opposite sex should be impeccable. Personally, he should ensure that he takes care of hygiene, keeps his genitals clean and he should not get addicted to porn and masturbation. He should masturbate only when sexually excited. Please let him know that should he face a problem, he may discuss these issues with you or his mother.
