The superstar basketball player donned the sneakers while playing with the flu for the Chicago Bulls in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Playoffs, which became known as the "Flu Game." Even though Jordan was sick, he managed to score 38 points. The Bulls went on to win the championship that year, adding to their six consecutive postseason victories from 1991 to 1998.
Former ball boy for the Utah Jazz, Preston Truman, auctioned Michael Jordan's sneakers in 2013. Jordan "Flu Game" sneakers reportedly sold for a record sum, according to ESPN. Jordan himself has signed the red and black shoe.

New Zealand-based shoe designer Kathryn Wilson created the next pair of heels on our list of the most expensive shoes. Her one-of-a-kind footwear has flashy embellishments. The designer sold the shoes at an event in 2013 for $418,450, and the diamond weight was 21.8 carats. The otherworldly pumps were a joint effort between Wilson and Sarah Hutchings of Orsini Fine Jewellery. All of the money made was given to the Ronald McDonald House.
Wilson meticulously penciled in the positions of the diamonds on the pump. Then, using tweezers and glue, she meticulously placed each stone on each shoe, a process that took well over 50 hours.
Wilson was accompanied by a crew of security guards as she worked. Two security officers in automobiles followed her as she transported the jewels and shoe, she said to The Daily Mail. "I felt like I was in a James Bond movie; it was that exhilarating." (It seems like we won't be seeing these kicks around town any time soon.)
