At No. 16 on our list of Most Expensive Shoes is a pair of Air Jordans with a value of over $104,000. Michael Jordan, formerly of the Chicago Bulls, had such shoes. The superstar basketball player donned the sneakers while playing with the flu for the Chicago Bulls in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Playoffs, which became known as the "Flu Game." Even though Jordan was sick, he managed to score 38 points. The Bulls went on to win the championship that year, adding to their six consecutive postseason victories from 1991 to 1998.

Thanks to Kathryn Wilson for the use of her photo.

New Zealand-based shoe designer Kathryn Wilson created the next pair of heels on our list of the most expensive shoes. Her one-of-a-kind footwear has flashy embellishments. The designer sold the shoes at an event in 2013 for $418,450, and the diamond weight was 21.8 carats. The otherworldly pumps were a joint effort between Wilson and Sarah Hutchings of Orsini Fine Jewellery. All of the money made was given to the Ronald McDonald House.

Wilson meticulously penciled in the positions of the diamonds on the pump. Then, using tweezers and glue, she meticulously placed each stone on each shoe, a process that took well over 50 hours.

Wilson was accompanied by a crew of security guards as she worked. Two security officers in automobiles followed her as she transported the jewels and shoe, she said to The Daily Mail. "I felt like I was in a James Bond movie; it was that exhilarating." (It seems like we won't be seeing these kicks around town any time soon.)

Star of "Dreamgirls" Anika Noni Rose debuted the Diamond Dream Stiletto at the 2007 Academy Awards. Shoes: Nike Air Jordan 1s, Signed by Michael Jordan

$560,000

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the most expensive shoes ever sold at auction were a pair of Michael Jordan-signed Nike Air Jordan 1s. Michael Jordan wore these throughout 1985 games since they were designed just for him.

As FN's No. 13 Most Expensive Shoe, the May 2020 Sotheby's auction was anticipated to bring around $100,000 to $150,000. There was a $300,000 rise in the bidding in the last twenty minutes of the auction, setting a new record.

The sneakers in this set of most expensive shoes are mismatched, which is an intriguing detail. Size 13 on the left, size 13.5 on the right. Michael Jordan supposedly wears this size while he plays basketball.
