Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies
Published By: University of Nebraska Press
https://www.jstor.org/stable/3346242
For over thirty years, Frontiers has explored the diversity of women's lives as shaped by such factors as race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, and place. Multicultural and interdisciplinary, Frontiers presents a broad mix of scholarly work, personal essays, and the arts offered in accessible language. The journal prides itself on publishing articles that bridge disciplines and that appeal to both academic and non-academic audiences.
The University of Nebraska Press extends the University's mission of teaching, research, and service by promoting, publishing, and disseminating works of intellectual and cultural significance and enduring value. We primarily publish nonfiction books and scholarly journals, along with a few titles per season in contemporary and regional prose and poetry. On occasion, we reprint previously published fiction of established reputation, and we have several programs to publish literary works in translation. Through our paperback imprint, Bison Books, we publish reprints of classic books of myriad genres. Our primary mission, defined by the University through the Press Advisory Board of faculty members working in concert with the Press, is to find, evaluate, and publish in the best fashion possible, serious works of nonfiction..

The seal of the LDS Relief Society, the largest women's organization in the world.

(Accurate as of 2006.)
The LDS women’s organization, called the Relief Society, was started in 1842 and is the largest women’s organization in the world.

The Church also has an organization for young women (image).
In 1870, Utah became the second state in the United States to extend to women the right to vote. Wyoming beat us by two months.
(Accurate as of 2006.)
Sheri L. Dew, a Mormon leader and the CEO of the church’s Deseret Book Company, speaking about Mormon women. Addressing a Mormon audience, sister Dew uses a lot of “mormonese” (sorry friends of other faiths!). Just the same, her message is powerful.
While Mormon polygamy is interesting from a historical standpoint, it is not relevant to modern Mormonism. Members of the Church have not practiced polygamy for over a century, and any Church member with multiple wives is excommunicated. ()
