Snapchat has many hidden corners and unanswered questions but none more so than premium Snapchat.
Don’t go looking for premium Snapchat on the App Store as you will not find it, and we fear for what you might find instead.
Sadly, premium Snapchat is not some shiny new Snapchat app that will give you extra access to filters and a greater chance of nabbing the screenshots.
But what is are premium Snapchat account, and are they just porn?
Premium Snapchat is when a person sets up a premium Snapchat account, which is a term commonly used to mean they share content in return for cash.
Premium Snapchat accounts are not officially recognised by Snapchat, so account owners have to work out the transaction method themselves.
Though there are some perfectly innocent accounts out there, premium accounts are generally known for their adult content.
When people say they have ‘set up’ a premium Snapchat account, this often means that they are willing to share out snaps of a sexual nature to others on Snapchat, in return for some payment.
This can mean that the person who has the premium Snapchat will either charge their Snapchat friends a membership fee, or maybe a one-off payment for a particular service, like a naked picture or video.
Basically, it’s OnlyFans but on Snapchat.
These people don’t actually have a special Snapchat account that allows them to carry out these actions any easier – it just means that they broadcast on other social platforms as having a premium account and people immediately know what it’s about.
In the US, the idea of selling Snapchat content was temporarily made more feasible by the invention of Snapcash.
Snapcash worked the same as transferring money to a bank account, once a Snapchat user has linked their debit card, they sent Snapcash to anyone in their contact list.
This feature was terminated in August 2018, however, and it didn’t debut anywhere else but in the US.
People who are coining it from their premium Snapchat accounts just use other money transfer services like PayPal.
