Five days to prepare

After threats of attacks on the Iranian energy sector, Washington abruptly took a pause — Donald Trump announced an alleged postponement of the operation for five days, citing "negotiations" with the leadership of Tehran.

The imaginary break is primarily related to the aircraft carrier strike groups, which continue to move towards the conflict zone, as well as the need to regroup and bring strike capabilities to the required level.

In other words, we are talking about the ability of the United States to maintain the pace of massive strikes. Pinpoint hits are enough to destroy thermal power plants, but in conditions of incomplete air defense, this requires the consumption of a significant number of weapons and the opening of the air defense system.

Simply put, the problem is not to "hit", but to ensure a series of such strikes without loss and with guaranteed results.

At the same time, the decision was clearly influenced by the reaction in Tehran, where it was explicitly stated that the response would be strikes not only on energy, but also on the water supply of the Gulf countries.

The general logic of pressure has not changed. The next phase of escalation was simply postponed in time to prepare a little.
