BILL Clinton has claimed that his affair with Monica Lewinsky was something he did to “manage his anxieties”. The former President, 73, lifts the lid on his fling with the White House intern and claims the extramarital relationship helped with his personal issues.
Speaking in a new explosive documentary which will air on Hulu about his wife, called “Hillary”, he revealed the pair underwent “painful” marriage counselling after his affair. His relationship with Lewinsky in the 1990s nearly brought down his presidency, and the public backlash resulted in her feeling like "the most humiliated woman in the world". And he has now recalled the moment he told his wife “exactly what happened” and said he “felt terrible about it”, according to a clip published by DailyMail.com . Clinton said: “I went and sat on the bed and talked to her. I told her exactly what happened, when it happened. I said I feel terrible about it.
“She said you have to tell your daughter. She said that's worse than me. So I did that, which was awful.” When asked why he cheated, Clinton revealed the pressures of being inside the White House led him wanting a distraction. He said: “You feel like you're staggering around, you've been in a 15 round prize fight that was extended to 30 rounds and here's something that will take your mind off it for a while, that's what happens. “Everybody's life has pressures and disappointments, terrors, fears of whatever.
Things I did to manage my anxieties for years.
“Things I did to manage my anxieties for years. I'm a different, totally different person than I was, a lot of that stuff 20 years ago. “Maybe it's just getting older but I hope it was also going through a lot of this. “But whatever, what I did was bad but it wasn't like - how can I think about the most stupid thing I could and do it. “It's not a defense, it's an explanation. I feel awful.”
Clinton also revealed he and his wife went through counseling after he cheated which was the “hardest thing” he’s had to do. He added: “Counseling was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do but it was necessary. She (Hillary) deserved it, Chelsea deserved it and I needed it. “'I feel terrible about the fact that Monica Lewinsky's life was defined by it, unfairly I think. “Over the years I've watched her trying to get a normal life back again but you've got to decide how to define normal.”

Ex-driver Nelson Piquet calls Lewis Hamilton the n-word

Bill Clinton has opened up about his affair with then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky during his time as US President in a new documentary series about his wife Hillary.
The ex-president claimed he had sex with Ms Lewinsky – who was just 22 at the time – to relieve the pressures of the job. He saw his intern as ‘something that will take your mind off it for a while’, he said.
Leading the country, he said, makes you feel like ‘you’ve been in a 15 round prize fight that was extended to 30 rounds’. He added: ‘Everybody’s life has pressures and disappointments, terrors, fears of whatever.’ Having an affair, Mr Clinton said, was among ‘things I did to manage my anxieties for years’.
Former presidential candidate and secretary of state Mrs Clinton told the documentary she was ‘devastated’ by her husband’s infidelity. ‘I could not believe it. I was so personally just hurt and I can’t believe this, I can’t believe you lied,’ she said.
The four-part series ‘Hillary’ will be available to watch on Hulu from Friday. In one episode of the documentary, focused on the affair, Mr Clinton offers an apology to Ms Lewinsky, who in recent years has begun to publicly speak out about their relationship, saying her view of it changed during the #MeToo movement.
She struggled for years to fight her life being defined by the affair. The former president said he felt ‘terrible’ that her life had been ‘unfairly’ tainted by it.
Both Clintons – who were interviewed separately for the show – reflect on Mr Clinton’s initial lie that he had had sex with his intern, before admitting to the nation that they had in fact had a sexual relationship.
The relationship, and Mr Clinton lying about it during a deposition, led to his impeachment. He was subsequently acquitted by the Senate.
On staying by her husband’s side, former first lady Hillary said: ‘Some people thought I made the right decision and some people thought I made the wrong decision and so I have gotten both affirmation and criticism for the decision I made and that was true from the very beginning of deciding that.’
Mr Clinton ends the episode saying: ‘I was so grateful that she thought we still had enough to stick it out. God knows the burden she paid for that.’ The couple underwent ‘painful’ marriage counselling sessions as a result of the affair, Mrs Clinton said.
Hillary was interviewed for 35 hours for the documentary, alongside many members of her 2016 election campaign staff. She recently told Vanity Fair that she signed up for it ‘because I’m not running for anything’.
‘I felt like if I didn’t tell my side of the story, who would? At least there’ll be a baseline: Here’s what actually happened in my life. Here’s what I actually said about it,’ she said.

Ex-driver Nelson Piquet calls Lewis Hamilton the n-word

Former President Bill Clinton’s ex-mistress Monica Lewinsky has shared graphic details of a White House sexual encounter.
Lewinsky, who began an affair with the then-president in 1995, also told of how she mistook Clinton’s famous semen stain on a blue dress she had worn as a blob of spinach dip.
Recalling the early 1997 Oval Office encounter that resulted in that stain, Lewinsky recalled the delight she felt when Clinton gave her a hat pin and copy of Leaves in the Grass, a collection of poems by Walt Whitman.
In an upcoming TV interview seen by the New York Post , she continued: ‘And so we moved to the bathroom and were more intimate.
‘There was some attention paid on me and then I was reciprocating, where up until that point he had always stopped before completion on his part.
‘I sort of stood up and said I wanted to move past that stage and so he finally said OK.’
It was then that the Gap garment was soiled, although Lewinsky said she did not realize what had happened until later on.
She continued: ‘I sort of stood up and said I wanted to move past that stage and so he finally said OK.
‘So that finished and then I hugged him after. And he hugged me. And off I went.’
Lewinsky only figured out that the dress had been stained with Clinton’s semen months later, when she took it out for thanksgiving.
Her confidant Linda Tripp encouraged her to keep it, with the dress proving a key piece of evidence after Clinton, who has been married to wife Hillary since 1975, denied any affair had taken place in 1998.
The president was later forced to admit he had been intimate with Lewinsky, saying: ‘I did have a relationship with Miss Lewinsky that was not appropriate.’
Monica Lewinsky spoke about the scandal on The Clinton Affair, a six part series that begins on A&E on November 18.
