Thank you so much for this post.

I see that you've mentioned "Mongo Explodes At The Village Gate" in your discography. It'd be so cool to actually find a link to this amazing collection - it happens to be my favorite collection in Mongo's entire discography.

It has been lost in the shuffle because there is, as you know, a collection called "Mongo Explodes" and another called "Mongo Santamaria At The Village Gate." Both are fine collections, but neither can hold a candle to "Mongo Explodes At The Village Gate."

Anyway, thank you for this one.

happy anniversary and heres to more misdirected bombed out emails in the night lol:)

nice mish mash of tunes on this mongo-if marty sheller's involved its gotta be a must!

Congratulations-it's all good!!!

Hi Mongo fans -

Just added two more Mongo album links to the big list at the base of the post :

1960 "Our Man In Havana" at Warianos forum:

and

1967 "Hey! Let's Party" at Waxfiend

-santamaria-hey-lets-party.html

Thanks to reader Stefan for pointing these ones out

Thankyou very much Martin!

I've added the Taringa link to the discography as it also gives people access to other great albums.

Also, I've had an email from reader Stefan pointing me to a post of Santamaria's 1987 album "Soy Yo", which has also been added to the discography.

So now 45 Santamaria albums and still going strong!

Thanks for your time and efforts on the scans anonymous - they look good! - I've added links to the scans in the discography in the appropriate places. Naturally looking forward to hearing "Mongo Magic" when you have the time to upload :) I'll do a special post when you manage to do that. Would also like to credit it to you, so perhaps think about making up an online name for yourself :)

Thanks again for your work,

Simon

The song "El Tres" is the non-LP B-side of the Vinyl, 7", 45 RPM, Columbia 4-44886 from 1969. The A-side is the song Twenty-Five Miles.

Perhaps someone can add this song, which features the Cuban tres guitar, to this collection of Mongo-music. Then this discography will be complete!

Help would be much appreciated!!

best regards,

Stefan

simon,

thanks a lot for this marvelous compilation, it is great work and lovable music.

being that mongo was a pillar of latin jazz and jazz, would you know of a compilation on the discography of the other great pillar, tito puente? i love both men's work and such compilation would be a worthy endeavour.

the best to you and all people who posted,

j
